Hi all

looking for any ideas for DD aged9 as her "main" present. I don't mean that it should cost lots, will be great if it doesn't! but just something memorable or for her to look forward to

She has a tablet and music player so dont think she needs anything electronic. She also has an older sister so we tend to have lots of general things like trampolines, bean bags, wii games. I have a few stocking filler ideas but could easily use more of them too as its her birthday a couple of months later too!

Ideas gratefully received!! Smile
Thanks

I know! It's ridiculous. DH feels the same way about print books being nicer, and he thinks we should knock the idea of a kindle on the head.

She uses mine on holiday BTW.

Can't you get free e-books from the Library, ours have loads? I think print books are nicer too, that and the fact that you don't actually 'own' kindle books.

There have been stories of accounts being suspended and people not being able to access the books they have 'bought'. I would be so hopping I would expire!!!

8.5 yo DD is getting:

A keyboard with a microphone (£29.99 from B&M's), a keyboard stool (£19.99 from Amazon), and two music books (both Disney themed and cost £15). She started keyboard lessons in August and is doing really well. It's at the top of her list.

The Lego Elves sets and the playmat to set it all out on - fucking £OUCH!

Disney Descendants DVD, books and dolls (Evie, Lonnie, Mal, Audrey and Jane).

She's asked for one of these magic drawings boards which I'll team with some sketchbooks and fashion themed stencils. She's very creative and arty so I imagine she'd spend hours at her desk drawing away. I might see about also getting her a Harumika starter set.

She loves Harry Potter so I'll buy her a robe and hunt down a Hogwarts acceptance letter as her 'special' Christmas present that sits next to her stocking.

Her grandparents have bought her a tablet. I'm not thrilled about it but they like to spoil her and I figured I could limit the screen time the same way I do with the TV.

DD8 got a craft box for her birthday that I assembled from Tiger, Baker Ross, Hobbycraft etc, which she loved. It had fabric, glue, paper, foam, beads, nice felt pens, a ream of paper, coloured paper and card, sellotape, washi tape, and a couple of little kits to get her started.

No idea what she's getting for Christmas though!

Sewing machine.

My nearly 9 year old has asked for a Design a Friends doll. TBH I can't see her playing with it much, but while she still wants a toy I will buy her one. I suspect some of her friends have a few of them and she has none, and no barbies or disney dolls etc.

We debated an e-reader, but ended up getting a couple of Book People sets instead. DH (who has a kindle) said he'd avoid a kindle for DD because they're not compatible with the local library. We'd need to get a more generic one for her.
