8 year old boy gift ideas £15-£20

In desperate need of ideas for friend's son - he liked lego a couple of years ago but nor sure if he's still into it, he likes to read but his first language isn't English so buying him a book may be tricky (shame as there's tons i could go for!).

I'm looking to spend around £15-20 & gift needs to be small enough to pack in suitcase. They are only visiting UK for a short time so ticket type presents prob no good.

Any suggestions welcomed. Tia.

Magnetic dart board but might be a bit bulkier than you were intending.
juggling balls
rubric cube
top trump/card games
ds is 10 and still loves lego, it is often still very popular with 8yr old

Nerf gun - although this might not make you so popular with the parents Wink

Can you get any books you like in a version in his native language?

Otherwise the Galt book of paper planes?

BeaLola · 31/10/2015 01:32

My nearly 8 year old still loves Lego, loves NERF gun, would love the dartboard and has the 200 paper planes book which I bought cheaply from the Book People . From the book peopleI have also bought the Haynes construction car kit for£7.99which I hope he will enjoy.

Knex guns around £15. They can build it and it fires foam bullets. Minecraft torches on Amazon for approx £11 today. Just ordered 2 for my boys.

Hex bugs

Lego star wars. The figures except Darts Vader are just under £20

NeverNic · 02/11/2015 11:04

Should say the lego makes the character figures

Thanks for all the suggestions, got a nerf gun & a rubik's cube so hopefully he'll be happy with that & it'll fit in his suitcase!

My 8 year old nephew has asked for the Jurassic world DVD
It was £10 in tesco and I also got him some drinking straw glasses and a flinging rubber chicken from Amazon as wee extras to mess about with on Xmas day.
