it wont fit under the xmas tree and most people wont ever fully appriciate what a small act can mean to so many people. But as my children open a door on their advent calenders, its a reminder that another day has passed without a much needed call for DH and many other people on the list. So if you have always meant to, but havent got round to it yet, then make my xmas extra special by signing up to the donor register, arrange to give blood and if you are able to, then also sign up to the Anthony Nolan Trust to donate bone marrow.

anthony nolan trust

Go on, make my families xmas extra special by signing up. And please dont forget to tell your family your wishes as well. So many families have objected to donating loved ones organs, even though they have registered.

I am already on the organ donar register.

Love to you Dee - I used to give blood regularly but can't at the moment.
I'm on the organ donor register - my children want to be as they say that would cheer me up if anything ever happened to them

Sent in my details and waiting to hear from them. I've always meant to do it but never seem to get round to it - so I promise before the year is out to go and donate.

Misdee, I know you don't want to hear it but you are an inspiration and I am sure your guts and determination has led to many people signing up.

I wish you and yours a really happy Xmas and I hope that Peter gets that call soon xx

Can't give blood or register for bone marrow but it's on my list of things to do - must stop breeding. I am registered with organ donation tho. Every so often I remind my family that it's something I feel v strongly about.

Here's another incentive, it you need one.

This is Lucy. She is 7 today, a birthday she probably wouldn't have seen without the marvellous gift she received during the summer. Someone was strong enough to give Lucy their loved one's heart.

Thank you to that family and Happy Birthday Lucy.

orangecake · 08/12/2006 09:23

I have signed up for the donor register - thanks for the reminder Misdee (I needed this)

Not sure whether to sign my children up or discuss it with them first (but it would upset them to discuss it, so perhaps I should just do it any??)

Can't give blood at the moment as anaemic and Anthony Nolan won't have me (ASTHMA)

notreallyhereDee · 08/12/2006 09:43

my 6 year old made the decision herself to sign up. If anything ever happened to my children i wouldnt hesitate to bring up organ donation with the doctors. some doctors dont like to ask either.
