I recycled our lights last year as loads weren't working and couldn't swap out the bulbs, now I need to replace them and I cant remember how many lights we had!

How many lights do you have on your large tree, its at least 6ft possibly 7. Will 240 be enough???

I'm thinking of using the Matalan vouchers to get theirs --if I can combine with the birthday voucher they sent-- any recommendations for long lasting lights??

I would say 400 if they're the tiny ones. You could always get two smaller sets if you want to take advantage of a good offer.I have 400 on a five foot tree which looks really twinkly-I guess it's a matter of taste-any amount will look beautiful!

Sorry forgot to mention-I got mine in B&Q and they've been fine so far-think I got them in a post Christmas sale and can't remember what I paid but I don't think it would have been a lot.[Tight!]

I think I have 240 on a five feet tree. I might invest in another set this year to bulk it out a bit.
LED lights are the best. The bulbs don't blow and they are safer than traditional lights.

I have 240 + 100 sets on a 6ft6.

Thank you for this thread as you have reminded me that every year when I put the tree up I end up tied in knots and send dh out to b&q for a single set of 400 white glow LEDs and they've always run out. It's going on the list of things to buy in November!

More is more with lights. I got excellent ones from Amazon for a very good price.

I have over 1000 on my 6ft tree and I still see gaps....

Thank goodness tootired, I thought I had a tree light addiction, Grin. I'm the same, I have hundreds on our 6ft tree. But I'm fussy, Yhere is a certain way I like it. I like the shape of the tree to be visible, it uses lots of lights!

I have 800 on mine.

kiwidreamer · 31/10/2015 17:11

Wowzers, looks like a minimum of 400 is in order!

I think I read somewhere that you should have 100 lights per foot. But that's to make it look like the professionals do it. I think 50 per foot would be my minimum.
