...would he/she be disappointed to switch to a more traditional one? I'd like to get something like the lakeland one (only cheaper!) that turns into a nativity scene.

I have 2 boisterous boys btw. Suspect I might need to get myself a female child... Grin

Well if I'm honest I think DS would. Could you not get the paper one for yourself?

PerspicaciaTick · 23/10/2015 15:56

We've been mixing chocolate ones with paper ones since my DCs were old enough to have calendars. And I'm mean and make them share a calendar, because turn taking is important and makes it all a bit more exciting.

Talk it over with them and find out. I don't think my ds would feel any different to my dd, they would be disappointed when they were younger but now they are teens I suspect they wouldn't mind.

yeah i think mine wouldnt like it much. I think youd have to have done the paper ones from the start, or have a paper one alongside the one with chocolate.

I dont think female child would help. My female child is less cooperative than the male ones

Why were you wanting something different? To be prettier or to avoid chocolate?

We're going with lego this year, think it was £18? That turns into a Christmassy scene, albeit a cardboard one!

Pootles2010 · 23/10/2015 16:05

And no the female child thing wouldn't help - me and my sisters were not happy when mum bought us paper ones - spoilt brats that we were!

randomcatname · 23/10/2015 16:06

haha apologies for my gender-stereotyping! Yep, as I suspected...I'll need to get them the chocolate one and buy a naice one for myself. DP will feel left out!

I tried weening did from chocolate calendars by having a lovely nativity one and a festive dish of chocolate coins, so we added to the scene and then took a coin.
