Baked christmas goodies that last

I'd love to make some christmas food hampers (mostly sweet things) but most of the things like brownies, shortbread go off after a few days. Can anyone suggest any sweet treats that last about a week or more? Apart from xmas cake Grin

How about doing jams.... Perfect time for that now . Also if you fancy having a go at tempering chocolate....there are loads of recipes for making different chocolates or truffles. Also sweetie recipes....I saw a cool one with a retro sherbet dip. Candied peel is great for Christmas. Another idea that is cool for gifts is to put all the dry ingredients of a treat ( chocolate cookies work well) in layers in a kilner jar and tie up with ribbon and a wooden spoon and a tag with the recipe on. It can look really pretty.

That is all the ideas I have......

Ginger is a natural preservative so gingerbread / ginger biscuits / ginger cake last longer than other flavours, are often at their peak at around 3-5 days after baking, and should certainly last a week. :)

If you pop over to the thread I started about a Homemade Xmas Hamper, there are some suggestions for things that can be prepared in advance and then frozen before simply rolling out and baking a couple of days before Xmas Smile.

Thank you all Smile Think I'll try making some jam this year!
