My son will be 21 months at X mas so following with interest.

How old is your son?

Like the look of the magnetic book.

We were thinking a wooden train set but hadn't really got very far with ideas Blush

MrsOs · 13/10/2015 14:39

Ds will be just 2 at Christmas (his birthday is a couple of days before)and despite saying we would never buy our kids a load of plastic crap so far he's got;

www.johnlewis.com/vtech-toot-toot-garage/p231302383
www.johnlewis.com/vtech-toot-toot-drivers-emergency-vehicles/p231302382
and some books

In my defense he loves these and plays with them a lot at toddler groups. I had vision of educational wooden toys!! i need lots of ideas though because he needs birthday presents too.

Our youngest (turns 2 12 days before Christmas) is getting a M&D wooden workbench - he's obsessed with his dad's tools but little bits are getting put away til he's a bit older! Also getting M&D wooden car transporter, lego duplo, imaginext toys - again it says 3+ on the box but he plays with his older brothers stuff and has been fine with that, and tbh I've examined them and can't see anything that'll come off and be a choking hazard. There's a few play doh stocking fillers and some Thomas take n play bits. We are currently debating getting a wooden train table for his birthday as he'd absolutely love it, but do we really have room for one?

Isthereeverarightime1 · 13/10/2015 20:29

I had looked at the vtech toot toot bits as he loves the one car he has already drives me bonkers so may revisit those toys! Will also check Thomas take n play. Not quite sure about the play doh just yet I don't think mummy can handle that mess just yet he will be that interested yet!

Ds just eats Play doh!

We were thinking about a train table too. He's got some Brio track and trains and I think he's love it...but we're supposed to be using his Birthday as an excuse to kit out his Big Boy bedroom on the cheap. We need to turf him out of the nursery so the dd can move in and we have an empty room waiting. I've already ordered
www.notonthehighstreet.com/dreamscenechildrensgifts/product/wooden_2d_name_plaque_tractor
www.notonthehighstreet.com/constantinejo/product/childrens-personalised-tractor-bag

and still need bedding, lamp, curtains etc so I'm not sure the budget will stretch to the table too!

I fancy one of these though-

Great ideas MrsOs, thanks!

I want to get my DS a set of Magformers, he loves playing with them at nursery

I really recommend these little Paw Patrol figures if your DC are into Paw Patrol. When you press their badge their gear/tools pop out. My just turned 3yo just loves them, and whenever we go out I've noticed all the little ones can't take their eyes off them.
I'll be getting DS some Playmobil.

MrsOs · 14/10/2015 07:04

oooo excited about the paw patrol figures. when our ds was 2 we got him the little tikes mini mechanic toys he still loves them and the little tikes car carrier. we have also got lots and lots of orchard toy games like doodlebugs and two by two and dotty dinosaurs...

I'd say they'll sell out quick.

ipswichwitch · 14/10/2015 20:16

Talking of train tables, tesco have the carousel train table for £30. Soooo tempted...
