I think it's really hard to get great gifts for husbands, male partners, dads, brothers, BILs etc - and I suspect I'm not alone......
How about we share here what we are getting for men, so we have a big list of ideas all in one place?

As a start, big successes in our family last year were;

  • subscription to Beerbods
  • Private Eye subscription
  • hamper of cheeses

It is really tough!

I always think the men's sections for Christmas are pretty dire :(

For dh I am buying the new fifa, another tattoo, paperchase diary and the new given chy aftershave

FIL will get a bottle of château neuf

My uncle a jigsaw puzzle

Bil Scrabble or similar

Totally stumped for my brother and younger BIL.

My dad I usually make a goodie bag of fortnum marmalade, hotel chocolate, new mug etc

I went a bit crackers on another thread a couple of weeks ago here

winewolfhowls · 11/10/2015 16:19

My brother liked the wallet ninja I bought for him

Jackmelad · 11/10/2015 17:00

There are some really good ideas on the thread linked by Redtoothbrush. I have now finished off my husbands presents, so rather happy about that.

mrslebon · 11/10/2015 17:39

So far, I've bought a box of craft beers from Flavourly (but must remember to cancel membership as I only wanted a one-off with a discount code).

Millennium Falcon Haynes Manual off Amazon for £3.99.

I got one of these Yorkshire Beer Experience sets for Father's Day and may well order for FIL for Xmas: shop.keelhamfarmshop.co.uk/collections/for-him/products/yorkshire-beer-experience

Boden have some nice bits in their Loungewear section for men which work out quite well with the code A2G2 on top (gives extra 20% on top of sale prices, ends tonight).

Saw the following in Waterstones today:New York Times 36hrs in Europe
There is also ones for Asia, North America & South America. Beautiful books, with tabbed pages.

Vargic's Miscellany of Curious Maps: The Atlas of Everything You Never Knew You Needed to Know
Again very beautiful.

Lonely Planet's Ultimate Travelist: The 500 Best Places on the Planet...Ranked

Spooks: The Greater Good

Haynes Manual Make Your Own FM Radio
There is also an Arcade Game to make but I can't find link to it on either waterstones or amazon.

raspberry pi complete starter kit

Trills · 11/10/2015 18:54

My brother likes nice aftershave so I got him a set of mini ones last year, so he could try them out and decide which he liked better.

happsymum · 11/10/2015 22:21

redtoothbrush you've inspired me to find something like your 36 hr books but on Dubai ( our holiday next year ) . Inspired me on another thread with another suggestion - you are good! :) thanks

BearFoxBear · 11/10/2015 22:26

The 36 hours books are stunning, I have a few myself.

Love the private eye subscription, that's BIL sorted :)

lozengeoflove · 11/10/2015 22:27

Fancy coffee flask, subscription to a magazine, theatre tickets, whiskey, food hampers.

CrapBag · 11/10/2015 22:57

Checking in because I haven't a clue.

DH isn't into clothes, doesn't wear aftershave, doesn't smoke or drink, only hobby is a martial art which I can't buy anything for. Doesn't like fancy food. I'm absolutely stumped this year. I don't think there is an Xbox game he wants at the moment, he has a couple thousand films and I don't want yet more bloody DVDs.

I do like the magazine subscription idea. Need to remember which magazine he very occasionally buys now Grin.

Also need ideas for my dad and step grandad.

Twolefttoes · 12/10/2015 21:04

I'm getting dh a keyring engraved with a drawing ds has done, its of a superhero and as he is only 4, its pretty cute.

He is also getting molton brown black pepper things as a treat, instead of the usual supermarket shower gel.

ApricotSorbet99 · 13/10/2015 07:25

There are some fantastic Lego kits for grown ups....Tower Bridge, Eiffel Tower, The White House etc. Think I might get my DP one of those this year....he used to love helping DS make his on Christmas morning when he was little (DS, that is).

One year I got a poker set and some beer & pork scratchings. That went down well.

Also, last year, all the adult males got a Firebox mystery box each. Good fun nit knowing what they'd got until they opened them.

Sadik · 13/10/2015 11:23

Inspired by a lovely leather bag linked to on another thread, I'm now bidding on ebay for used vintage leather music bags for choir-going DH.

FannyFanakapan · 13/10/2015 11:30

Im thinking of buying DH one of those in-car dashboard cameras. He likes gadgets. And he drives like a maniac.

Otherwise....not a clue.

FannyFanakapan · 13/10/2015 11:40

Ive also bought him a T shirt with "Knows chemistry" (pic of breaking bad chap); "knows Physics" (pic of sheldon) "Knows nothing (pic of Jon Snow) - three of his favourite TV shows.

BayeauxT · 13/10/2015 14:36

DH sorted after reading this thread - have ordered raspberry pi starter kit and Fanny's T-shirt which he will love - thanks for the great ideas.

Pointlessfan · 13/10/2015 14:41

Interesting beers always go down well with my DH but the most successful things I ever got him were a bread making day with a baker and a magazine subscription.
I find my dad really hard to buy for though, he always ends up with whiskey and chocolate.

Pootles2010 · 13/10/2015 15:01

My dad is getting the Game of Thrones monopoly, thinking of getting DP new Guy Martin book not for me oh no, other than that - I'm stumped!

GothicRainbow · 13/10/2015 16:47

I've started stocking gifts. We don't have big budgets for each other this year but have found some nice PJ bottoms in primark and also a Sons of Anarchy tshirt which I know DH will love. Otherwise I'm abit stumped. He cycles a lot when in London but it's more for his commute so was tempted to get him something for that - maybe a go pro!! He does like a bit of tech.

MajesticWhine · 13/10/2015 16:54

For men who like cooking and/or takeways? This book might be fun. Am planning on getting it for DH.

Homemade Takeaways: How to Make Your Favourite Takeaway . . . But Better

mrslebon · 13/10/2015 22:29

Another idea for men who cook?
