Lidl: anyone know if advent calendars are in yet?

I rarely shop in Lidl but usually buy their advent calendars as in lovely traditional designs and great value.

Has anyone seen them in store recently?

I went today and didn't see any

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 10/10/2015 12:50

I came on to say Wilko have advent calendars in, but I dont think its the type you're after. I like the traditional ones. You know the ones without chocolate in.

d270r0 · 10/10/2015 14:52

Nope not out yet

MissBattleaxe · 10/10/2015 15:00

YY DrHarleen- I get myself a picture only one every year but its incredibly hard to find one that's not a silly price. I usually go on ebay.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2015 15:10

I got dd a non chocolate gruffalo one one year, it was lovely but £££

DrSausagedog · 10/10/2015 16:10

Thanks all. They do have chocolate in, but they usually have nice traditional scenes on them rather than just Disney characters etc.

Another non chocolate fan here but thats only because I had a choc buttons one some years ago where all the pictures were basically non christmassy rounded things (Dec 12th was a lightbulb Hmm).

Will keep an eye out for the Aldi ones, they sound brilliant.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 10/10/2015 17:43

In that case Dr there were some tradition scenes in Wilko's today which had chocolate in. I thought you meant the proper ones with no chocolate in.

DrSausagedog · 10/10/2015 17:55

Thanks Dr Harleen will try Wilkos then.

Btw there are some beautiful non-chocolate ones on eBay, with traditional German scenes if anyone is interested. Not particularly cheap, but lots of choices of the design and really beautiful Christmas village scenes etc.

Do you have a link? They sound lovely.

LittleFishBigOcean · 11/10/2015 11:35

Whsmith had some nice traditional ones in yesterday. Nice traditional scenes and no chocolate.

While we're on the subject what is it with those OTT advent calendars? Lego and such? I don't want to pay a fortune for an advent calendar I just want a door to open each day. But not the 25th.

Yes, I'm grumpy.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 11/10/2015 13:38

Me too LittleFish I totally agree regarding these lego ones etc.

Ive seen an idea where the parent wraps up 24 books for the DC and each day the DC opens one and that is the bedtime story. I like that idea, but these lego ones etc are too much.

LittleFishBigOcean · 11/10/2015 13:51

DrHarleen I was about to launch into a rant about the picture books too! Don't get me wrong, I'm a teacher and I LOVE books but DD likes to revisit her books and would be totally overwhelmed by a whole new one each day.
