Okay, so I'm on a roll here with the CHristmas questions...

What are your favourite, best-ever Christmas memories?

I have two. Firstly I must have been about 7 and I woke up to find a full stocking of pressies at the foot of my bed among which were some Avon lip-tint and nail-tint (how grown up was i!!!!) and a Guess Who? game. Which I really, really wanted!

Secondly I was at uni and it was early December and we had a load of friends round in our rented house one evening when there was a power cut. So we lit as many candles as we could find (it was a lot, this was the early 90s!), one friend got a guitar out (he was an excellent musician) and we sat in the candlelight and sang all the traditional carols. It was so atmospheric and meaningful and far more Christmassy than any of my Christmas days have been.

AS you can see I'm a bit of a festive junkie. For which I make no apologies at all!

the avon lip and nail tint- the little blossom ones, i remember getting those one year too.

my fave memory was how our dad always used to take the three of us for a long walk up the local hills on xmas eve to keep us out of the way while mum sorted everything out. it was always great because dad worked really hard and was pretty strict and this was the one day he always spent loads of time with us and really relaxed. we used to go home absolutely plastered in mud and thought it was great.

My grandad, he (and my nan) brought me up from birth, his face smiling with excitement when we'd open presents and eat his amazing christmas dinner. He passed away 3rd January this year, christmas is going to be so so hard and just not the same without him. Especially as I have to do make the dinner, I'll have to sink a load of booze as he did, that way it must turn out the same right???

The dcs are watching the Rainbow Christmas special from about 1982 ATM (bought on video from the charity shop!)

My dad on the roof with a portable telly setting up a satellite dish.
My dad building a wall at the bottom of the garden.
My dad cleaning out the oven in the bathroom all afternoon and evening.
Guess he didn't like Christmas much until the grandchildren came along but his strange antics were all part of the tradition. He loves it now with all the small kids adoring him.
