Gifts for 9 month old

DD will be 9 months old at Christmas (and getting practical, things we need anyway, gifts from me and her Dad) and is the first grandchild in both families. I am already being asked what she would like for Christmas. She is changing so quickly I have no idea what she will enjoy next week, let alone in several months! So, wise mnetters, what should these very enthusiastic grandparents be buying?!

Your DD will be turning one next Spring so you could ask for some fun garden toys which she will enjoy next summer. A tunnel for crawling through...you can get pop up ones cheaply....maybe a little pop up tent too. A paddling pool or messy play pit on legs might be good.

Our ds2 will be one end Nov n we will be asking for push along walker n toddler slide thinking ahead.

Would also recommend a smart trike, skuttle bug, tomy squeaky eggs, tomy pic n pop, vtech toot toot, happyland, Fisher price little people.

My lo was 10 months last Christmas and things she's loved the most this past year have been a play tunnel, folds flat so not taking any room when away, fisher price piggy bank, a foam chair, a plastic fisher price one with music and little bits, squeaky eggs, bath squirters, ball drop, my first annabell and fisher price pram walker, an elc space hopper rabbit thing that you sit on and bounce, that's not my books and skuttlebug. And the cuddly music in the night garden toys and Disney little people castle she got on her first birthday. We bought some toys we thought she'd grow into over the year but she was pretty much right in there. The elc sensory ball pit was a bit of a flop, loved it Christmas Day so glad we got it as made her day but wasn't used much after that x

Thanks! Lots of ideas there. I am intrigued by the foam chair, what sort was it? I think we will give the ball pool a miss, pretty sure the dog would be in heaven though!

You could ask for presents that she may like in time?

I like the dolls house idea chocolate, not sure the GPs will be keen on decorative stuff, but I'm v tempted by the letters, shouldn't have given my DD such a long name, it'll cost me a fortune!

OMG! This was me last year. Here's what happened with me:

Wins

• Cloth Toy Bins. Still uses them.
• Wind up Cars that you pull back.
• Board books
• Clothes
• Room Decorations
• Those toys you pull by a rope.
• Stuffed animals
• Bath toys (so much so, she's getting new ones this year too)
• Nice Keepsake Ornaments

Flops:

Any of those stupid plastic baby toys they market to new parents babies. Don't make my mistakes they clutter the house, get stepped on, and besides just putting them in and out of the toys bins, never plays with them. We have learned our lesson and are getting rid of most of her crap this year and replacing it with toys that she will grow into as she gets bigger (soccer ball, balance bike, wooden musical instruments).

But it's going to take a few flops with toys to figure out which ones she likes anyway. The good news is, at 9 months you have a few months of watching her play with Christmas toys to figure out what to get her for her birthday.

At the moment DD would just be tickled pink with a new ball and crayons with a coloring pad for Christmas. So we're getting her those along with stuff she'll actually get real use out of as she gets bigger.
