What music CD for a 6 year old?

My 6 yr old god-daughter wants a music CD for christmas because she loves dancing and some of her friends now have 'their own music' to listen to.

But she doesnt really know the names of any bands or singers

Any suggestions please?

i've bought mys 6 year old ds mcfly's album. he loves them

pop princess. they came out last xmas would think you could get one in hmv.

DD (just 7) is into the Pop Party CDs (compilation of chart pop basically). Pop Party 4 has just been released so fairly recent stuff on there.

Only downside is theres always some intensely annoying song(s) on there eg Pop Party 3, which she had for her b'day, has the Crazy Frog song on it AAARRRGHH!

PS -forgot to say that Pop Party 4 is only £8.95 (free P&P) on Play.com at the moment.

How about 'Colours are brighter' a kids CD with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, the Kooks and Belle and sebastian?

ah mcfly, I've even heard of them, but didnt know what age group were into them!

I suppose compilation cd's were what I liked when I first got 'tapes' as we had in those days, but were the charts full of so much crap then as they are now? but thats a good suggestion tho thanks I will look on play.com

my friend's dd got a cd called 'ansty cowfold - lullabies for discerning babies' which is songs by eg beach boys where the lyrics and tune appeal to young children and covered by a female singer

I thought my god-daughter would really like the music but not the title as it is aimed at babies
