Advent calendar for a 2 month old

We have 2 DSs, 4 and 3 and I am due DC3 any day now. For the DC we have a reusable advent calendar, which last year we filled with a treat every day for the boys to open. They are both at an age now where they will be very excited about Christmas, especially DS1 who is 5 in a couple of weeks.

So my question is, what can we put in, if anything, for a tiny baby? I think if we don't do anything DS1 in particular will be confused especially as last year he thought the treats appeared by magic.

Any ideas gratefully accepted, thanks!

Hat and mittens? Xmas vest, Xmas socks. Finger puppets. A new dummy if takes one.
My youngests first Xmas she was 4 weeks old and in her stocking we got a soft piglet wrist rattle, can't remember where we got it from though sorry.
I'd probably make it things like clothes, small toys for cot or room/pram decorations. I guess it depends how big the advent calendar is to what it can fit in.

Oh and Disney store have stackable soft toys out called tsum tsums. There are mini ones for £3 they could all get one. They have different Disney ones and marvel ones coming out (frozen, Winnie the Pooh, avengers etc) . They are tiny and super cute but not small enough to be put in mouth.

DS will be 9 months. He is PFB and will not be having chocolate until he is 10 and brushing his own teeth!

I've bought him a fuzzy felt one which makes up a Christmas scene. You could do something similar? Fuzzy felt or little figures to make up a scene.

Ds was 10 months last year and we got a wooden scene box thing and in each day there was a little star you take out and hang on a hook, this year I might put a tiny treat in there (raisins etc) I'll try and find a picture

This type of thing.

Don't be a Scrooge cactus. It's for the older kids..., the Magic Smile

SoupDragon · 03/10/2015 13:01

Two months old?? I wouldnt bother. I would explain to his older siblings that he is too tiny for this kind of thing and that you are sure he will get treats next year when he is old enough.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 03/10/2015 13:02

Really I wouldn't worry. Won't the 5yo be too interested in their own treats to worry about the baby? And you can just say oh Baby X is too little to join in this year, can't you?

SideOrderofChips · 03/10/2015 13:43

I have older kids and DS1 will be 3 months at Christmas. We're not getting him an advent calendar and DD's will be told its because hes too little

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 03/10/2015 13:46

I'd just say the baby is too little for an advent calendar!

BertieBotts · 03/10/2015 14:11

I would just explain it doesn't work until the baby is one (or two) years old. The magic works for older kids but babies are too little.

kiwidreamer · 03/10/2015 18:18

Or do just one bigger thing (Xmas outfit or soft toy) on the 1st and a note from the Advent elves saying... dunno... something useful, relevant and sibling appeasing!!

Fresh01 · 03/10/2015 18:21

I understand why you are doing it. What about weaning spoon, drinks cup, teething ring, wrist rattle, tiny board books (ones that come in set of 4 or 6 and divide up on different days) bib, bath toy.

Branleuse · 03/10/2015 18:30

nothing. Hes practically newborn and will not have a clue. Tell your other kids that the advent calendar fairy will do one for the baby when hes older
