go to boots - they have loads cheap atm. I've jsut bought some vidal sassoon ones for £40 and they are great.

I've got some Babyliss ceramic ones and they are fine. I thin kthey were about £20. They do the job without a prob, but I do have fine hair so I don't know how they'd fare with thicker, wavier hair. Also I don't use them every day so I can't give you an accurate picture of the damage they'd do to your hair (compared to GHD's) if they were used daily.

my little sis is a hair dresser and she says mine are just as good as ghds, dp bought mine for xmas last year but they are reduced loads in woolworths this year. see if i can do a link for you.

have a look at this

Hair Tools ones are supposed to be good. Their new ones (FHIs) are supposed to be better than GHDs yet they're about £15-20 cheaper.

Thanks Those prices are a relief!

I thought abotu hair tools, but came across a lot of bad reviews saying about the power lead splitting or breaking off, and one woman said that it had blown up on her.

Hmmm interesting thread. I want some for curling my hair once every so often as they seem to do a better job than the curling tongs. My cousin said GHDs but I will probably only use them once every few months so not really worth it!

sha11 · 01/12/2006 18:42

i've had hairtools for over 2 years used once £35 inc postage i got them for, never had any probs'

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 01/12/2006 18:43

you curl your hair with straighteners?

Blondilocks · 01/12/2006 18:59

You close them on the hair and then twist it up. They did in the hair dressers once when I was having a posh up-do for a ball & all the tongs were in use, & my cousin achieved fab curls with hers.

NDP - I can tell you how yours would do on thick wavy hair - not very well!!!

Love my new GHDs.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 01/12/2006 19:17

lol, i just went to the hairdressers this afernoon and my hairdresser has taught me how to curl with my GHD's! It is so easy and gives such a brilliant curl, im going to do it for a ball im off to next week! Love, love my GHD's, sorry i tried lots of others over the years but they are fab, my hair is mega curly and frizzy though.
