Christmas Movies for teen boys?

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 22:20

We always watch a movie on Christmas Eve and I tend to get a dvd in rather than relying on the chance of something suitable being on.

It gets harder as they get older to find something we'd enjoy. We did Die Hard last year and Planes Trains and Automobiles (i know it's technically Thanksgiving, but it's lose enough :o ) the year before.

They are 15 and a half and 14 and a half, so realistically anything up to a 15 is fine.

National lampoons Christmas vacation.

VulcanWoman · 01/10/2015 22:25

Christmas with the Cranks has some good laughs.

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 22:29

Good suggestions, seen both though and yes good laughs.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 01/10/2015 22:31

Elf. Everyone likes Elf.

again more good suggestions and seen them all - Bad Santa is a 15 would it be too much? Has anyone seen it?

I should maybe have ran through the DVDs we already have - sorry :(

Just had a quick look - we've done Gremlins and the Home alone ones and The Santa Clause, Polar express and loads of other kiddy type ones

Jingle All The Way. There's a drinking game Grin

VulcanWoman · 01/10/2015 22:39

Bad santa would be a cringe I'd say, rude bits.

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 22:40

Just strolling through Amazon Christmas Movies (they are either aimed at kids (understandable :o ) or a bit girly or we've seen them.

Jingle all the Way does sound familiar but away to check....I like the sound of a drinking game and boys are allowed a snowball on Christmas Eve :)

We've watched Ted and Ted2 together and the first series of Homeland - plucking up courage to watch The Inbetweeners with them - is Bad Santa in that sort of vein?

Just seen Porridge the Christmas Specials, I wonder if they would "get" that or if it really is too dated now?

I suppose that is another option, some Christmas specials of shows they might like....Hmmmm

OP posts:
VulcanWoman · 01/10/2015 22:47

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with the inbetweeners, cringe, they don't call him bad santa for nothing Blush

VulcanWoman · 01/10/2015 22:48

What about Bottom Christmas episode.

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 22:52

Yeah, I'd watch that don't think DH would though - he is probably more awkward than the boys.

A Christmas Story? Very amusing film set in 1950s - big deal in the U.S. where you can get a leg lamp like in the movie!

MARGUERITE18 · 04/10/2015 09:08

Fred Claus?
Deck the Halls
Christmas lights and Northern lights (very funny uk tv movies similar premise to deck the halls but british and not as sloppy)
Father ted christmas special
Christmas Do-over - similar premise to groundhog day, quite amusing

Nydj · 04/10/2015 09:13

It's a wonderful life.

WingMirrorSpider · 04/10/2015 09:18

Trading Places is fab and has some Christmas/new year settings.

Buttercupsandaisies · 04/10/2015 15:21

I think you'll be fine with the inbetweeners etc esp if they've seen Ted!

Ted is by far one of the worst films I've ever seen for language and inuendos etc! I love Ted it's hilarious :)

myotherusernameisbetter · 04/10/2015 15:27

Thanks all for the new suggestions - some we've seen and some we haven't so I'm away to do a bit of research on those and then decide. :)
