I tend to do a big restock of the kitchen and cleaning cupboards anyway in the autumn, as well as buying ahead for Christmas. So my lists are odd:
Extras for Christmas:
Biscuits (quite a few mixed packets – no tins)
Crackers (at least 3 types)
Large sharing packets of crisps
Breadsticks
Bisto gravy powder
Hot chocolate (Cadbury’s powder and Butler’s chocolate blocks types)
Mini marshmallows
Barry’s teabags
Ground coffee (something nice for lazy mornings)
Ikea moose pasta (looks like Reindeers)
After eights
Goose fat
Cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves, peppercorns, sea salt
Dried sage, dried thyme, dried basil
Wine (red & white, & prosecco) and beer (including a few Christmas beers for DH)
Gin
Slimline tonic, coke, 7up, fizzy orange
Sparkling water
LARGE can squirty cream (mostly for DD hot chocs or my French coffees)
Kitchen towels
Toilet rolls
Matches
Cleaning stuff – washup liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry stuff, household cleaning stuff, bleach, bin liners (black and compost)
Candles – nightlights, dinner candles, 1 fat red Christmas candle, birthday candles for DD
Batteries - AA, AAA, C, D, square and CR2032 (clocks)
Extras for pre-Christmas baking etc:
Flour (cream, self raising, corn)
Dried fruit (currants, sultanas, raisins, candied peel, cherries, apricots, figs)
Baking Powder
Sugar (castor, dark brown, icing, granulated)
Decorative elements – colours, sprinkles etc
Mixed spice, ground cinnamon, ground ginger
70% chocolate in LARGE bars
Chocolate chips
Unsalted butter
Autumn cupboard restock:
Tinned tomatoes (chopped, whole plum, and with added herbs)
Tomato puree (tins and a tube)
Coconut milk
Kidney beans
Sweetcorn
Tuna in oil and in brine
Pasta (spaghetti, lasagne sheets, penne, shells)
Rice (easicook, basmati, pearl)
Couscous
Salsa (mild and hot)
Jars tomato sauce (with chilli, with roasted veggies)
Jars curry sauce (tikka masala, butter chicken, korma, jalfrezi)
Packets Chinese sauce (chow mein, sweet’n’sour)
Fajita mix
Stew/casseroles mixes
Soups – chicken noodle, condensed chicken, condensed tomato, chowder
Tinned fruit – peaches, pears
Custard – powder, tubs ready made
Herbs & spices restock if needed (whole extra list of its own)
Last couple of weeks:
Ready to roll croissants (at least 2 tins)
Ready to roll pain au chocolate
Real butter
Cheese
Smoked salmon
Eggs
Citrus fruits – lemons, limes, grapefruit, oranges
Mince pies
Ready made pastry (I dream about making my own – but time and ability are usually both against me)
Ice cream
Frozen Yorkshire puddings
Potatoes
Carrots, parsnips, onions, garlic
And then I have the final big shop for meat and perishables.
