I have my 40th coming up just before Christmas this year. Normally I invite my mum over for a takeaway on my birthday, spend Christmas at home with Dh and dd (they both prefer a quiet day) then see my extended family soon after often at my Grandmother's house.
This year I'd like to do something a bit nicer for my birthday. I am fond of my extended family and would like to have a family meal or party however, unfortunately, my various relatives are getting along badly at the moment, although I get on well with them individually and would like to treat them in some way, especially the kids. But I don't think a party or family meal would go that well. The children in the family vary a lot in age and also don't all get along that well (or behave that well in restaurants) so again it is not that likely to think of something they would all enjoy doing together. My budget is quite small too.
Of course it is not always easy to book things very close to Christmas, which is why I am thinking about it now. So how would you do this? Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.
