Self assembly robot for a 3.5 year old

My son has asked for some metal and a remote control so he can build a robot, from Santa.

I have found robots with remote controls, transformers and very expensive self assembly robots.

Can anyone find a self assembly robot, with a remote control, for a 3 year old.
I am veering towards the transformer rescue bits at the moment where he can change them up but thought I would see if you wise people had any better suggestions,

Budget about £75 max.
Thanks a mill

www.johnlewis.com/galt-robo-rover/p1195176 This? Not remote controlled but looks fun...?

Thanks Misty9.

Those look cool, but a bit too advanced for him yet I think.
It's the kind of thing I would love, but need it to be a bit less delicate.

I've found these but they are a bit out of budget. I think I may be looking for the impossible - cheap robots. Hmm

Or stretch the budget with www.johnlewis.com/meccano-meccanoid-g15-ks-personal-robot/p2077292 ?! Shock

I think meccano is your ideal, but he's a bit little for the advanced stuff yet. Maybe start with a small set? Or google it and apparently it's easy to build your own RC robot?!

That one looks awesome. He might graduate to that in another few years.... Maybe we'll give it to him when he's able to help finance part of it. ??????

I'll see about the RC robot - well get DH to look into it. I will happily admit that putting stuff together is not my forte and DH is the key Lego builder here.

Thanks for all your help.

Those look amazing, but very expensive I agree! Ds LOVES fiddling and I'm always trying to find things he could legitimately fiddle with but its hard when they're little.
