Yes, yes I know the baby won't know, care or appreciate that it's Christmas, but I'd still like to buy a little something! Grin
Family member due to have baby at beginning of December and want to buy a Christmas present, but not sure what.
What would you buy? I'm thinking a soft toy type rattle, cloth books for chewing reading...

I bought DD a bagpuss and clothes for her first Christmas. She was a week old.

DontStopBelievin · 24/09/2015 23:39

Aww, loved Bagpuss! Smile

Excellent! Totally forgot about those! I have two boys, and have photographic proof somewhere of them in their Christmassy outfits a few years ago now. Grin
Eldest was dressed up subjected to "mummy's little pudding" Christmas outfit.
Youngest had a "mummy's little pumpkin" Halloween outfit.... Grin

They sound a great idea too.

A hooded towel? You can get really nice personalised ones too. It is on the list for my new little one Wink

Honestly do not buy a christmas themed outfit. DD was born a week before Christmas and got loads, and they just went to waste.

We got DD beautiful red (with white polka dots) pram blanket that she still has in her room now aged four.

A beautiful version of "Night Before Christmas"?

AlwaysUnsure · 25/09/2015 08:04

A personalised Christmas ornament? With name/date of birth/baby's first Christmas on it. I know a few weeks after the birth of my first I wouldn't have the energy/thought to get one but would have loved one to hang on the tree each year.
Sophie la girafe? A favourite in this house and I know they do Christmas themed gift sets.

notaprincessbutaqueen · 25/09/2015 15:58

Our baby is due 14th December but I've always ran overdue with my others so expecting to have a very very newborn on Christmas day! as there are already 4 other children, santa cant possibly miss out the baby so he will be delivering a playmat and bouncer under the tree.
as we don't know gender, I've told family they can buy some pink or blue clothes. tescos is usually open until 4pm/6pm Christmas eve so it can be a last minute dash if necessary!
so i would suggest clothing but not Christmas/winter related! or a mothercare voucher so the parents can pick what they think the baby needs x

As always suggested a personalised bauble would be lovely, you would have to order it as soon as they're born though to ensure delivery in time. Might be worth contacting someone earlier, so they're ready to go, as soon as you give the nod.

Beth2511 · 25/09/2015 18:18

DD got the most adorable not that she will appreciate the pics in 20 years time outfit for her first christmas when she was 6 weeks old!

CJCreggsmyhero · 25/09/2015 20:43

A Bramble Rose Christmas toy, their personalised toys and cubbies are just amazing

Whatabout · 25/09/2015 20:46

www.morrck.co.uk/shop/baby-hoodie-travel-wraps One of these would be much appreciated.

NeverNic · 25/09/2015 21:35

We got our 8 week old (and another even younger baby) personalised dressing gowns from My 1st Years. We bought through not on the high Street on Black Friday and got money off. They come packaged beautifully and wash so well. If you get a dressing gown I would suggest getting a slightly bigger size to allow them to wear it.

Loki17 · 25/09/2015 21:37

Anything that will be perfect for a 6 month old in the summer. Winter babies have to wait a whole year then get two lots of presents. If you buy something that can be put away for a few months the parents will appreciate it.

Fresh01 · 25/09/2015 21:56

For our Xmas baby - didn't get here till the 28th in the end - we got given an Xmas decoration with the year on it, a festive teddy bear and an Xmas stocking. The stocking was lovely and has been reused the next year.

Given I and my DC have December birthday it is nice to receive non festive gifts as you don't want your birthday to be forever entwined with Xmas.

So a lovely pram blanket, pram attaching toy or Lameze toy would always be appreciated.

I was a few weeks old on my first Xmas and being first child in the blur of it all my parents realised on Xmas eve they had nothing for me. So they tied a bootee to the cot and put £5 in it - it was nearly 40 years ago, and I am in no way scarred from the experience??

TheMinkette · 25/09/2015 23:04

This Christmas Decoration is lovely and you wouldn't need to get it personalised

Last yr I had ds2 end Nov and we got him stocking stuff was weaning bits and teether toys as would need them anyway and for under tree some lamaze toys and couple six months plus toys for later on. Other people brought books, clothes, lamaze toys

omama · 27/09/2015 10:44

Same as east dd arrived early in Nov, we filled her stocking with bits we'd need anyway e.g. bib, beaker, weaning spoons, linkies, teethers, under the tree we put a few clothes & then a couple of 6 months+ toys for her to play with later in the year.

GloGirl · 28/09/2015 14:46

A morrck
A Tuppence and Crumble star wrap
A Mamas and Papas knitted blanket
Large Aden and Ana is swaddle muslin.

I got very few presents from people for my newborn last year as "they didn't need anything".

I was a bit sad about it to be honest!!!
