Cards for everyone in the class

DD started pre-school in september and apparently it is the done thing and the kids like it. But, being a cloth nappy fiend, I just cannot stand the waste!!!
So I am planning to cut up cereal boxes into squares, write the kids' names on each and let DD loose with glitter and glue and just pop them like that in the pre-school 'postbox'.
Just wondered what you'd think of the parents if you child came home with a card like that?

I'd think you're a sensible and creative parent!

Fairly p-ed off as it would shed glitter all over the house

Other than that, I don't see the problem.

Brilliant! What's the point of a bought card written by an adult saying to X from Y? Much more fun!

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 30/11/2006 13:13

It's the envelopes that annoy me so the glitter will all be at the bottom of the pre-school postbox!

If DD wants to send cards to all her class, she can jolly well write them herself, I reckon (she's in year 2, but I would have said that last year too). But I wouldn't object to receiving something home-made - shows real creativity.

I have just bought my kids cards!!!!!!

Wish I'd of seen this earlier now!!!!!

My dd1 would love to be let loose with the glitter!

If I was on the receiving end of said glittery card I'd be probably a bit annoyed as dd1 would insist on holding it all the way home and glitter would be everywhere....but on the other hand I would probably think the personal touch was very nice.

My big card dilema is that I have no idea what all the childrens names are in my kids classes...I will have to get a list of the teachers me thinks

we've done similar (i have 2 kids at school and that's 30 cards!! So ds2 is 'selective' and ds1 (receptions) and I cut small star shapes out, he decorated them, I stuck a hole in and a piece of ribbon and hey presto - naff but made with lurve - xmas tree decoration for everyone

I made christmas cards with DD this year after also feeling environmentally guilty. It aws nothing fancy but we both enjoyed it. The glitter glue pens from ELC are really great. The glitter stays put.

Noooooo!!! We'e just made a load of cards for family and friends....I think I'll be wading thrrough glitter for years to come! DD made some for her classmates too, but got bored. I'm afraid my eldest 2 get the choice of last years cards on offer at Oxfam. I must admit that I will put my foot down very firmly if DS#2 tells me he wants some for nursery though...
