Looking at argos 3 for 2, my third desired product is not available now I have an 8 year old I think would LOVE the nerf guns, but can they play alone with them!

what would she shoot at? will they hurt, are they safe with a toddler in the house?

I am just wondering if they are more for dc with similar age sibs?

can you re use the bulletts?

kindest thanks

Be warned it doesn't just stop at one gun!

I have a 10 year old DS. He's up to about 6 guns and two different bullet sizes (yes, they're reusable unless you get them stuck on the roof and in the gutters).

DS plays with his by himself as my DD is older and not interested most of the time. He has strict rules that they're not allowed downstairs apart from on route to the garden and also he's not allowed to shoot people above the waist.

Am thinking of getting him a target for Christmas as i'm sick of being shot in the foot!

Bullets are soft and spongy and can be reused. They do hurt if shot close up. We have them but shoot long range outside when they wouldn't hurt and also shoot at trees. You could also make targets for them. I have 3 DD (2 teenagers and a 3 year old) and they have huge amounts of fun with them. We have a no guns in the house rule.

I wouldn't have them if you can't be sure older one will not be gentle enough with the toddler. (I took about half an hour to calm down after my friend's 8 year old stood next to me and shot me persistently and although I told her it hurt and not to her mother did not tell her off and I couldn't be any more forceful without causing a scene - possibly another thread in there).

I spent many a happy afternoon, by myself, knocking over empty plastic bottles with paper faces on them with nerf bullets.

Really fun was shooting at old glass screen tvs, because it would stick, but I think modern screens are too vulnerable.

I wonder if maybe I should leave it till next year then and get her some for bday and xmas next year, she is only 8 and has lots of stuff this year already...

I am always one toy out for the 3 for 2 !

I have a 6yo dgs, a 25yo ds, and a 56yo dh. They all love playing with Nerf guns. The 6yo has been known to whine when hit, but they don't actually hurt all that much. (Granny is off-limits as a target. Grin )

I wouldnt advise reusing the bullets once you have fished them out the loo grim

But other than that they are quite harmless and great fun!

Noooo don't wait!

I may have lay down on the landing, hidden behind a wall holding a fully loaded nerf gun, with Dh strategically placed diagonal to me also laid down with a fully loaded nerf gun waiting for children to come upstairs Grin

They are the best thing ever! The disappointment comes from them having the battery operated ones now so they can hear us coming. But the original pump action ones are still so satisfying.

You can play by yourself, set up targets to shoot at.

We also have the no firing above the waist rule. And if you are holding a nerf gun you are fair game, but if you are not holding a nerf gun you cannot be shot at.

we have a big box full of them and quite often have nerf fights involving the whole family. i may have been known once or twice to shoot the dc's relentlessly Grin, but they are tough nuts and it doesnt seem to hurt as long as you dont go for faces.

Boomco do guns with sticky darts that only stick to their targets, could be an idea for solo playing
