Dh mid 30s. Not laddish. Not really sporty. Likes finer things in life eg think total false economy me buying clothes in primark.

Things that have gone down well in past:

Pewter pint jug with his initials
Hip flask
Gentleman's valet (wooden stand for clothes)
Shoe cleaning set in posh wooden box (or maybe that's the valet and other thing is called something else)
Leather folder for work
Leather photoframe for his desk
Meat tenderiser
Set of bike tools
Toolbox and toolbelt
Meat slicer from Lakeland

Any ideas? Don't really want to get actual food or drink.

Digital photo frame
Posh cookbook
Experience type day out
Really naice bottle of wine. Or whisky. Or port. Or summink. Oh you said no drink. Ah well, I've typed it now!
One year I got my husband a couple of handmade shirts - surprisingly reasonable but you can't wrap them of course. I wrapped the leaflet from the tailor I think.

ja9r · 14/09/2015 16:39

i'd like to know more about approximate cost and where to buy valet stand and handmade shirts please.

Does he have watch/es. You can get nice wooden watch boxes. DH has one that moves his watch to keep it ticking.

Comingroundthemountain · 14/09/2015 17:47

Ja9r I got this one

Watching with interest but things that have been well received with mine are

Guitar
Home brew kit
A machine that you put your road bike on that turns it into an exercise bike
Ukulele

Seriouslyffs · 14/09/2015 18:55

Fitbit, Bose wireless speaker (if he travels) and Kindle have been big successes here.

rosieliveson1 · 14/09/2015 18:58

Hugo boss belt and nice, leather gloves have both gone down well here

Bohemond · 14/09/2015 19:04

Sonos
Sage juicer

SpaghettiMeatballs · 14/09/2015 19:24

Lindsey007 thank you so much. DH would love a turbo trainer for his road bike. Great idea.

My DH is awful to buy for. In recent years he has liked:

Kindle Fire
England rugby shirt
A decent quality hooded sweatshirt.

DPotter · 14/09/2015 19:29

2 Christmases ago DP asked and received a ukulele - he loves it, practices pretty much every day, has joined a band and is now on his 2nd Uke. I can't stand it...............

gamerchick · 14/09/2015 19:31

Helicopter lesson?

shadesofwinter · 14/09/2015 21:40

Some sort of cooking lesson.

In the past I've bought for DH:
Pasta making day
Indian food cooking day
Cooking day at Petrus

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2015 21:58

Really good pestle and mortar?

I think your dh and my dp are poles apart tbh! Things that have gone down well -

Peel Sessions of his favourite 'old' bands
Jars of interesting mustard/chutney
A wheelbarrow!
Running stuff, including a watch
Mug with pictures of the dds on (this went down VERY well!)

Prelude · 14/09/2015 22:26

Lakeland maple syrup (for Christmas morning bacon sandwiches) which comes in a nice bottle.

Moleskine Star Wars notebook which he likes so much he doesn't want to write in it Grin

Pobspits · 14/09/2015 23:47

Dh is similar and has liked / will get

Vernonon · 15/09/2015 11:57

How do you get a keyring of your kids' drawings pobs

MooseyMoo · 15/09/2015 16:10

I second Spicery subscription. You can choose a subscription for 3, 6 or 12 months and you can choose from 3 options: Friday night curry, World kitchen and Date night.

Food Magazine subscription - I love Delicious magazine.

Cameron's Stovetop Smoker - DH loves this and now hot smoked salmon for Christmas dinner starter

daisydalrymple · 19/09/2015 20:10

Cufflinks? When the dcs.turned one, I bought DH a pair of clogau gold cuff links. They have a new set out of a rugby ball, which I plan to get for dc3's 1st birthday next month.

winchester1 · 19/09/2015 20:14

A really good knife set (as in butcher/chef standard) and or a book on butchery, or if your spending loads a good knife sharpener.

NameChange30 · 19/09/2015 20:32

DH is a foodie who's also into tech and gadgets. Presents that went down well were:
Cheese making course
Wired subscription
Mini Swiss Army knife with lots of tools (ie not bog standard cheapest one) - he uses as a keyring. You can also get them engraved.
A lovely jumper from John Lewis - it's plain dark grey but looks great. Pretty much the only smart jumper he owns.
Man perfume - his favourite was Chanel (from a family member not me!) but he also likes Hugo Boss.

NameChange30 · 19/09/2015 20:33

You could also get tickets for a wine or whisky tasting evening. I got DH tickets for a wine & cheese evening which went down v well - plus I got to go too Wink

Chocolateteabag · 20/09/2015 22:20

Your DH sounds like mine OP

Mine has liked in the past:

Cut crystal whisky glasses
Wine decanter - Reidel I think
Leather tray for cuff links etc (I think from Aspinall or similar)
Mulberry plaited leather belt, wallet and card holder (all from the factory shop in York and not at the same time!) there is also a factory shop for Mulberry at Bicester
Gieves & Hawkes wool coat (but I was with him to try this on at York Outlet)
Joules bamboo socks (decent colours and last well)
Malin & Goetz shaving cream and moisturiser (Space NK)
Kiehls facial fuel moisturiser etc
Pictures (very subjective here though so depends what he likes)
Scaramanga "vintage" leather bag - like an oversized satchel but big enough for his laptop and work papers. this one which you can get engraved too

ja9r · 20/09/2015 23:14

i went shopping with my dh on Saturday and came away with lots of ideas for Christmas:

a new camera bag - lowepro passport sling
a wee silver coffee pot espresso maker
anything from kiehls
a self heating butter knife (!)
an eau good (water bottle with filter)
a pair of merrels
a herschel bag

chicaguapa · 21/09/2015 00:29

DH is getting some travel binoculars and tickets to see Muse next year. That's used up the budget. Grin

If he has a Kindle, the Klevercase covers look like classic books and are fab.

happsymum · 24/09/2015 22:02

my DP is going to this next year (bought for his bday after him telling me he wants it) and thought might be an idea for others :) men are so difficult to buy for and all...
