Christmas gifts for young children to make

We don't do gifts to adult relatives but would like to get the DC (6 and 8) to make something small to give to their GPs. Last year they decorated jam jars and filled them with sweets. Any suggestions for what we can do this year? They enjoy drawing/decorating, more so than baking. I've had a look on Pinterest but it all looks a bit too complicated, we need something dead easy!

bauble wreath
Do pre glue the caps to the baubles to stop pop-off. We didn't use two wire circles but bent a wire coat hanger into a single circle and threaded the baubles on.

So some adult help needed.

But peppermint sweets are vv easy. Icing sugar, water, peppermint essence, mix, roll out, cut, dry, wrap.

And your own dough decorations to put on the tree. Make your own salt dough in diff colours, form decorations using cookie cutters, add eg silver balls, ensure hole for thread, bake, add further decorations eg glitter, put in thread, hey presto.

something to put pens in? Needstiff card eg cereal box side, using about half of it for. Base. Loo roll inner tube, sticky tape, wrapping paper. Or your own home made wrapping paper eg lining paper marbled. Cover loo roll and base, then Sellotape of loo roll securely to base. If. Sello shows, put tinsel round base to cover. Add mire decorations as desired.

And, the easiest if all, buy some of those mini calendars you can get in wh smith which have no pictures with them. Get child to draw a picture and stick calendar underneath. Hey presto, the perfect GP present.

Oh and bookmarks. Either get stiff card cut rectangle, and one side is decorated, the other says to GP from dc.

We bought a ceramic flower pot and decorated it with DSs painty hand prints. It looks fab. I'll need to varnish it soon.

Going to fill with bulbs or seeds. Grin it looks so good that we are doing 3 more this weekend so each GP has one.

You can get a pack of ten white tote bags or tea towels on Amazon, plus some fabric pens for under £15 and make ten presents.

We just yesterday decorated a picture frame and plan to put a nice picture of the kids inside.

Crafty presents are lovely Grin

Ooh think we may steal the tea towel idea Smile

Thanx Margaret
