Hello all,

Hopefully the second message on the thread will contain a list of potentially useful links. I haven't checked through all of last years useful links so if I've missed any good ones please let me know and I'll amend.

I'll do my best to keep it updated with each new thread.

DD was watching some kind of Disney Christmas cartoon this morning so I'm feeling rather festive today :)

Am in ROI, so any Irish mumsnetters Ken Black have 20% off everything this weekend. Was also in Argos and they had a few skylanders for the wii game down to €4.99.????Looking for a three wheeled scooter and some Star Wars stuff for DP if anyone has any ideas! This thread is brill, I am refusing to panic buy this year and will be super organised

Millie2013 · 19/09/2015 20:02

Evening all
I'm planning on buying DD one of those wooden cafe/shops on wheels for Christmas. If anyone sees any wooden food/crates/tills/shopping trolleys (or a metal shopping trolley), a heads up would be much appreciated :)

Millie2013 · 19/09/2015 20:02

Bargain ones, I mean, sorry :)

TobleroneBoo · 19/09/2015 20:18

Just seen this on Facebook, not sure if valid

Oooh liking the stag bedding!

TimonAndPumbaa · 19/09/2015 20:46

millie, we bought dd a wooden shop/trolley for Christmas last year. Nearer to Christmas Sainsbury's usually have a really good toy sale (I think it's all toys at least 25% off). Towards the end of the sale they reduce the toys massively. We got lots of wooden food for absolutely bargain prices including a birthday cake that could be cut up (slices velcroed together), came complete with candles, 'knife' and cake decorations, paid a couple of £ for that. Also had some cupcakes and gingerbread men. There was other stuff that we didn't buy - microwave, mixer, toaster etc. So if you're near a sainsbury's keep an eye out for the toy sale!

Sorry, just realised PICKGAP is off full price only Sad bad bargain hunter

these scarves are lovely for £4.89

ApplesinmyPocket · 19/09/2015 22:07

Tiredoftiredness your code made me go to GAP and I'm really glad I did so thanks for that! I did swap it once there for LUCKYGAP which is 35% off full-price AND sale items - tried out both codes and as I had a few sale items in, the 35% one worked out marginally better.

Love this thread, thanks to all. Flowers

Argos have paw patrol stuff on sale. including the look out centre for £33 something.

PandasRock · 19/09/2015 22:36

The Lego classic 10698 set isn't the amazing bargain it seems. It is at lowest ever price, but the reduction is a more realistic 20% rather than 44% - the RRP Amazon are quoting is vastly over-inflated

DeathstarDame · 19/09/2015 23:31

I've seen a few people mention Star Wars. Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Wilko and Argos all have some really nice bits out for the new film, as do Disney Store although it's a little pricey.

Me and DP both love Star Wars! I've seen a cool Death Star touch lamp in Argos for £20, Primark have some nice SW ladies pyjamas and underwear as well as Men's tshirts, as does George. Star Wars Funko Pops make a nice gift if you're into collectables coughlikemecough and aren't to expensive (between £10-15).

For kids, George and Primark both have kiddies pyjamas from toddler sizes up. Nutmeg in Morrisons have some SW tshirts. The talking plushies available in Argos and Tesco are cool for little ones, my DS love R2D2 and Chewie, he's nearly 2. You can usually get the miniature talking plushies in the Works or HMV for a few quid. The Book People have some SW activity books. Argos have SW Play Doh sets now too.

Pound land/world have some decent SW stuff around Christmas too, calendars, notebooks, etc.

DingbatsFur · 20/09/2015 00:16

Amazon can over inflate lego. Always price check the lego website if the amazon stuff looks dodgy.
Ebay is actually really good for lots of lego. You can buy lots of interesting pieces and get it by the kilo which is great when starting out.

FireflyGirl · 20/09/2015 07:23

Anyone looking for an alternative to a chocolate advent calendar, Argos have got Wow Wonderland ones for £12.99 here

Amazon are selling them for £19.99, so seems a good deal.

Millie2013 · 20/09/2015 07:31

Thanks, Timon, I'll keep an eye on sainsburys

Kraggle · 20/09/2015 07:36

Thanks kitkat for the Hama beads reminder, that's my nieces Christmas present sorted with the addition of some boards and ironing paper for just under £20.

storybrooke · 20/09/2015 08:14

Off to the smyths sale this morning so hoping the shelves aren't bare Grin Also picking up the skating Elsa and Anna after Argos lost the order I was waiting in for yesterday. If anyone is after them still worth checking as the two day holding period will be up for those who reserved, last night none available in nearest 15 stores but this morning I managed to reserve both for today.

Loki17 · 20/09/2015 08:17

I bought dd a wooden shop from Asda last year for £35. She absolutely loved it and it is still being played with. It was a bargain compared to others I'd seen but so well made and sturdy.

Giant My Little Pony at Argos

If, like me, you are a family of geeks then Teefury is excellent. They do a t-shirt of the day every day for $11 and at during September are doing grab bags for $6.

The shipping is a bit steep because it comes from the USA and it can take 6 weeks to get here, you can't combine it either which annoys me.

My last order took 4 weeks - it's the It's So Fluffy one with Agnes from Despicable Me holding Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy - but they are good quality.

I ordered the t of the day Stitch holding BB-8 from the new Star Wars film and having a nom, 2 x adult grab bags and 2 x child grab bags and got it all for under $50. That's good value for t-shirts in this area.

Today's Thor t-shirt is super cute - I might be addicted.

Millie2013 · 20/09/2015 09:02

Thanks, Loki, that's the one I've been looking at. It's oos at the mo, so I'm keeping a look out for it

itsonlysubterfuge · 20/09/2015 09:19

dawntigga Thank you so much for that link. My family live in the US, so I can have them buy the t-shirts for DH and then give them as gifts to him. He's normally hard to buy for and I just know he'll love that My Neighbor Tortoro/Big Daddy t-shirt!
