Favourite Christmas Song?

Yes I know it's too early blah blah blah but I'm asking anyway. Gonna make a playlist up this year instead of just trying to remember them one by one while putting the tree up. My favourite is Fairy Tale Of New York. Dp's is White Christmas. So what's yours?

Hamlet - the bon Jovi version?? I love that.

Gaudete - Medieval Baebes version for spine tingle, Erasure version for a party playlist (and a brilliant video too - it's on YouTube). Actually Medieval Baebes have lots of wonderful Christmas music that's a bit different to the usual stuff.

Yy to Carol of the Bells and A Spaceman Came Travelling - both gorgeous.

I have to admit I hate a large number of Christmas songs, largely because they are so overplayed and constantly on the radio from halloween onwards.

I do like Chris Rea's Driving Home for Christmas though. He's singing about driving home (to the Boro ) along the A19, which I frequently drive along so I feel all festive when I'm going home :)

I also like Let it Snow, but it does remind me of the film Die Hard...

NeverNic I'd forgotten that bon jovi covered that song- just had a listen to it I got confused because the song title is very similar to 'please come home for christmas' which I also love.

As kids my mum had a load of Christmas lps but our favourite ones were Phil Spector's, Nat King Cole and a compilation called a very special Christmas. That one had a brilliant Bruce Springsteen song on it.

I cannot name my favourites - there are too many and I don't know lots of them.

But I do listen to Merry Christmas Radio, an internet radio station on Live365.com, in the Festive section. They have a really lovely mix of Christmas songs by country singers, old time crooners, orchestral tunes and choral songs, big bands, some rock - and lots of them are ones you would not hear a lot on mainstream radio.

I keep saying I will do a list to have when I am unable to login to MCR, but never manage it.....
