Ours - same ages - play
Jenga
Cranium Hullabaloo
Orchard Games such as Pop to the Shops and Tummy Ache
Great Game of Britain
Mousetrap
Scrabble or a version of.

Thinking of getting a version of Risk for ds who is 8 - The Entertainer have an offer on the Narnia version - or another of the Cranium games but not sure which possibly Ballooon Lagoon .

snkaes and ladders and ludo

binkacat · 27/11/2006 20:20

Rush Hour Traffic Jam - do a search on amazon and read all the 5* reviews.

I loved Game of Life when I was a kid - can you still get it?

Wallace · 27/11/2006 20:29

LIZS - Great Game of Britain! haven't played that since was a child. Off to have a look for a set right now

DimpledThighs · 27/11/2006 20:29

mine (7&4) really like snakes and ladders, mouse trap, operation, guess who, junoir monopoly and kerrplunk.

Do look around because lots of places have 3 for 2 offers on games (saw it in borders today.)

oh one word of warning - if you are buying games for your own children make sure you can bear playing them yourself - I dread mousetrap and rue the day I got it for them!

CrocodileKate · 27/11/2006 21:26

One game we have recently rediscovered that ds now loves is dominoes.

Loshad · 27/11/2006 21:32

monopoly, risk, cluedo, guess who, woolies bingo game (surprsingly good fun)

Sparkler1 · 27/11/2006 21:33

DD has just been given this for her birthday and loves it:-

sillyspaghetti

PeachesMcLean · 27/11/2006 22:07

Good thread - ideas for presents.

Is Silly Spaghetti fussy to put together?

Personally I can't stand mousetrap. Too fiddly. Traps don't stay in place (I understand we have the "new" version) We prefer Rumble in the Jungle - which stays out for a couple of weeks at a time. Ongoing favourites for DS (5) is snakes & ladders, dominoes, and Guess Who (several different versions! - might have to get the Marvel superheroes version next....)
