Come & tell me about Furbys

DD turns 6 this autumn & I haven't a clue what to get her for her birthday or Christmas. She spends most of her time playing with DS (3.5) or with the train track, Playmobil or marble run. When playing with DS, they often play with the dolls or cuddly toys doing role play sort of stuff. Would a Furby fit into this? If so, would it actually be better to get them one each?
How annoying are they actually going to be? We're likely to be spending Xmas with elderly relatives which I'm already slightly nervous about. Would a Furby destroy it?

I bought mine furbys a couple of years ago, they were played with a couple of times but now just Sit under the bed. They are annoying but not madly so, they eat batteries like you wouldn't believe though.

I probably wouldn't bother again.

They are little f**king annoying battery zapping nightmares just like finnella mentioned,I binned my DD's months ago and they've yet to miss them

Mine do actually play with theirs a lot but mostly in conjunction with the app

op I had a good look at numerous past posts on them and reviews on argos etc, and decided to get one, they are 25 on amazon and in vairous argos deals. I would never pay over £35 for one.

It is simply the most annoying toy either of the girls have ever had.

Though it did terrify my new au pair one night when we were away, which I found hilarious. (So did she when she dared come downstairs to find out what was making the noise and realised it wasn't because someone had broken into out impenetrable fortress.)

Mine used them for a week now they are festering in a cupboard and make me feel guilty whenever I go in their by crying and shit.

Ours was a great success for 7 year old DD last year. Still played with loads - feels like one of the family in fact. They are surprisingly charming and sweet. Have got a furbling to go with it for this year.

Waste of money in our house. Furbies have been ignored since Boxing Day

My 5 year old daughter loves hers and used to play with it alot, especially alongside the app. They do drain the life out of batteries very quickly though and I keep forgetting to get new ones which is the main reason she hasn't played with it for a while. She's had lots of fun with it so I would recommend it. We had two last christmas as my niece had one too and they were hilarious when interacting together though the novelty quickly wore off for the grown ups.

I think the new ones change personality according to how you treat it and can be played with alongside an app so they are more interactive. Furby boom I think they are called. Half price at argos at the min
