what do you tell them?

I've noticed lots of people tell their dc different things about santa.

I've always said that mummy and daddy buy the presents and send them to santa to bring Xmas eve.

what do you all say?

Santa brings the stocking presents. We do tree presents.

Santa does a couple of presents. usually his main one and some stocking fillers. us and family/friends get the rest. the younger two are too little for Santa, both of them being under 2.

Father Christmas brings their stockings and one joint gift for under the tree.

The joint present wasn't always the case but the dc are close in age with similar interests and when they both started asking for the same thing, it seemed sensible to add in a joint present rather than buy 2 of the same thing.

The rest are from mummy & daddy/family etc

Father Christmas (Santa is not allowed in this household!) fills your stockings. Then he brings the presents that mummy and daddy/family send to him over the Christmas period

In our house, Father Christmas brings a stocking of stuff for the two boys to share, and something for the grownups maybe I also send him some money so that he can make something that I would never buy, eg a toy piano, and they have that under the tree.

Father Christmas gives one gift, the rest are from family and friends because it's a great idea.

Except we forgot to take the FC gifts to my parents. They didn't get packed. But it was OK because DD1 (5) wouldn't go to bed, and then woke up DD2 (3) who was then bouncing around keeping me awake until after midnight.

When we got back to our house I dashed off a note from FC explaining that he'd turned up, but couldn't leave the gifts in the midst of naughtiness, but had emailed the North Pole for confirmation. By the time he got across to our home area he'd received an answer that they had been pretty good all year, and so left the gifts there. However any naughtiness NEXT year on Christmas Eve and there would be no second chances.

I've also impersonated the tooth fairy for my nephew and written a tiny note about the state of his room and the tooth fairy H&S policy forbidding her from entering a hazardous location. An attempt would be made the following night if the room was cleared, after which a charge would be made for further delivery attempts.

Apparently he can tidy very well if he puts his mind to it. He was over 10 and just chancing a quid, but he looked a bit worried at one point.

Father Christmas fills the stockings and one extra present downstairs (usually a train track or something so unwrapped). The rest of the presents under the tree are from us and family.

Father Christmas will bring the 'main' present and a few others, Mummy and Daddy will also give you a few presents.

I never really had a stocking growing up, I'm not sure if I should bother or not. I haven't found a really nice one yet.

My parents always told me that they visited Santa and helped him to choose what me and my siblings would like and he delivered them on Christmas eve. In reality, my auntie babysat whilst they went late night shopping. I remember distinctly saying to my brother one time, 'do you think they are at the North Pole yet' and he said 'well they've been gone an hour, so, probably'. With dd, we tell her the same. Mummy and Daddy tell santa what to bring. Basically, Santa is a jolly red courier.

Santa brings the stocking and a few other small presents. Then later on (after dinner) he leaves one big special present under the tree. Sometimes it's a shared one but not always.

In our house Santa fills the stockings and leaves one Santa (main) present (all unwrapped but bows) and dh, I and family get the rest and wrap them for Christmas day. My two are still young and not had many questions yet but will tell them santa and the elves make a present he hopes they'll love and lead it more towards the spirit of Christmas rather than the naughty and nice list.

Probably going against the grain but our presents aren't reliant on behaviour, nor does our elf 'watch' us in dec to make sure we're behaving As creepy looking as she is, she is more to make the kids laugh at her cheeky antics.

Everything off of their list comes from Santa, and everything in the sticking comes from Santa and is all in a separate paper. Everything else comes from us and family...

Though last year my mum bought the same paper as Santa... My four year old was very confused!

Everything that we buy comes from Father Christmas, but presents bought buy other family comes from them (otherwise they wouldn't thank the giver). We did buy some presents at Easter for DD1 which led to the comment "Father Christmas gives much better presents than you mummy".

In our house Father Christmas fills stockings, and everything else is from family and friends. We liked the givers to be thanked for their gifts.

For those who say Santa brings all the presents they buy, do your dcs think you don't buy for them? I've always wondered this but been a little apprehensive to ask in rl.

family all give them their presents so they can say thank you. we usually all meet on Xmas eve and swap and then have Xmas day just us.

tbh there are numerous flaws in the whole santa thing but they never seem to notice.

We do the same as comfybigduvet, I don't like the Father Christmas thing.

Most people I know do main presents from parents and stockings from FC as far as I know.

Storybrooke, I've been accused of this by my (then 7yo) DD who genuinely whinged that it wasn't fair that everyone else gave them presents except for mummy and daddy. I had to bite my lip.
