Anyone seen a nice wooden dolls’ cot for sale?

DD wants this for Christmas after her plastic one from last year broke twice and has now been deemed Not worth Mending.

BIL was going to make it (he?s a chippy) but price would be too much.

I have found a nice shop (near us actually) that makes them (I think) but the nicest one is £35 which is more than I wanted to spend. I am looking in the £20-£25 price range. Anyone seen one? (I am keeping an eye on E-bay but there is nothing there atm that catches my eye).

Ikea do a bed for £9.99.

octobermum · 23/11/2006 10:32

I found one last year at craft fair.

It's a rocking cot about 2ft long and 1 ft wide with bedding for £25.

Lol I am actually going out today to get the bits to make one for my dd for xmas.I'm just making it out of mdf and its going to have hearts at each end with rockers on the bottom.I'm going to paint it white then add a pink love heart each end with a stencil in the middle.I'm also making the mattress and grow bags to go in it,and pillows too.
My dd loves her baby annabell and baby born in equal measure she pretends theyre twins so I'm making it big enough to fit them both in.Twin cot's for dolls are very hard to find.

I've costed it all up already and with the wood, foam for the mattress, materials for the bedding and pink paint(I've white already) it's only going to cost about £20 which is a bargain.

argos do a wooden crib and highchair set for 3.99 euros, about 30 pounds. pg 1463

PinkTinsel · 23/11/2006 10:56

39.99 euros

Gingerbear · 23/11/2006 10:56

Clary, DD has the Ikea bed. Baby Annabel fits perfectly.
The bedding is basic though - we accessorised with a thick foam mattress, and lots of pink and lacy bedding. As it is plain wood, we have painted it pink too.
(Thank heaven for leetle girls.....)

Clary · 23/11/2006 13:11

Thanks all of you. Can't find that argos one online Pink Tinsel.

GB and jackieno, Ikea may be the ticket if I can persuade her that dolls are big enough now to sleep in a bed not a cot.... will have to see.

Any other thoughts?

GB how are you btw? Blooming I hope?

Bit more than you wanted to spend, but one here for £30 - and bunk beds too.

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 13:20

And the wooden bed a little way down has sides, so looks like a cot. Have to buy bedding separately though.

Gingerbear · 23/11/2006 13:25

Am feeling fine Clary, all is well with scans and no sickness (unlike with DD.
The pine bed on Jackieno's link for £19.99 might be suitable - more cot like than the ikea one.

Clary · 23/11/2006 13:34

Jackie that £30 is next to the £35 one I really like - it?s just down the road from me but DH says that?s too much dosh. Liking that £15 one tho. I think that looks like a cot, doesn?t it? We have some bedding (pillow, duvet) from the cot That Died from last year so that?s cool.

sorry GB x-posted again. Yes hadn't spotted that bed from the Long eaton place. Maybe I could take a trip out there.

Glad you are feeling OK.

argos online is ajoke, you'd have to check the shop i'm afraid.

weepootleflump · 23/11/2006 16:49

There is a pink polka dot GLTC Sleigh bed £22.99, I think it's lovely though obviously not a cot! Maybe she'd like this for a change..

Gingerbear · 23/11/2006 19:14

the pink spotty one is lovely, but I would want the table and chairs too (for me, and hide them from DD)

Clary · 26/11/2006 00:18

Hmmmm that GLTC one looks kinda unsturdy which, given the fate of the last cot, is not a Good Thing.

I think I need to check out Argos in town (grim thought) and then maybe head out to Long Eaton. Have a bad feeling the budget is set to be blown tho.
