Letterbox do a fabric one - features even camels! Really really gorgeous and would last forever (as long as it was kept under supervision!) but not cheap at £30

what about the playmobil one, here this one is a stable scene, you get a bit for it every day and build a nativity scene. there are loads of different ones available

i have the fabric one for ds - love it, but not prepared to shell out that much for school one. playmobil link wouldn't work but i'm guessing it owuld be a bit young - teach 11 yr olds atm...

There's clearly a gap in the market here...

The one we had last year from Tearcraft or tradecraft had the sory in daily sections and a lovely fairly traded chocolate as well.

NannyL · 21/11/2006 20:15

my charges had a lovely one just like that last year!

this year we just have a nativity stable scene though, soo guessing mummy couldnt find one either

earlysbird · 21/11/2006 20:23

GLTC one is same as but cheaper than Letterbox one, as I found just after I ordered the letterbox one...

For older children, try reading a chapter each day of A Christmas Mystery by Jostien Gaarder. The abridged version is best (you can also get audio recording) and the chapters are dated as per an advent calendar.

Its a lovely story and mixes the Nativity story with a mystery, history and geography as a boy discovers episodes of a story hidden in an old advent calendar (they fall out one by one as he opens each window). Each episode tells him about a missing little girl and how she travelled both back in time and across Europe from Scandanavia, to Bethlehem.

the class making one is a lovely idea... but just don't have time to do this . so much pressure on classroom time....

traidcraft website shows one, but p&P is more than the calendar is... i hate that!
