i'm looking for a santa's grotto in sussex to take my dds, 2 and 4 to. we dont have time to do a full day out eg amberley museum/ train,as we are going away before xmas and have run out of free weekends. however, we would like them to 'see santa'.

any ideas for a quick visit to an (not too tacky ) grotto that doesnt involve visiting a shopping centre?

Tulley's farm is good but gets more commercial every year look at there website and see what they are doing this year, we have been before.

are you west sussex or east?

If west you might be able to stretch the point and do Santa at Staunton Park Farm, it's in Hampshire....we went last year and it was FAB - not commercial at all and they used a barn at the farm beautifully, made a dark and winding walkway through to the grotto which had little scenes dotted through it, animals and such like; there was a lady elf in a beautiful gown leading us through and the santa looked REAL and really engaged well with the children; afterwards there were craft tables laid out for christmas activites.

It was great, though prob out of your area now I have gone all through it!

Or they do Santa cruises down Chichester Canal if you're in that area.
