I'm finding children really easy to buy for this year but the adults are a nightmare. I have no idea what I'm going to buy. Both my parents are re-married so I have step-parents to buy for too.
What are you planning to get for yours?
TIA

Crate of wine ?

MIL is getting soem quirky new kicthen gadgets as she has a newly decorate kitchen and they'll be wrapped up in a Cath Kidson apron.
Her partner is getting a book on choosing wine.
FIL - dont know.
FIL's partner is getting some padded funky hangers.
My mum is also getting a new apron and oven gloves set because i saw hers the other day and they are disgraceful. She'll also get some other bits and pieces.
Mum's husband will be getting some gardening bits including some snazzy boots that have thermal layers that you can take out and warm up for really cold days.
For ideas maybe look at

Good luck

my mum - cookery book - Arabesque by Claudia Roden, plus a glass wasp catcher and other garden trinkets.

my dad - heaven knows - Amazon voucher probably, also a wind-up robot.

plus some home-made biscuits if we get round to it with the dcs, and probably something with family photos on such as a calendar.

subscription to a magazine

panto tickets with the gran kids

not sure if they will get anything else...

hovely · 16/11/2006 22:30

oh yes - PILs - forgot them.
They have a system where they decide somethign they want and everyone chips in, so my SIL will organise it all.
but we will also give them chocx and home-made biscuits. I am considering doing decorated plates with ceramic paint that you bake in the oven.

a computer - fed up of my dad's out of the ark machine. As we live abroad at the moment it will help with us all keeping in touch. They already have it and are very happy!

Photo books

We live SO far from family that they have no idea what our lives are like or what their grandchildren are up to. The other advantage is that they are delivered to their door.

My parents- The Times Atlas of the World
In-laws - Christmas lights which we're bringing back from Sweden for them.

Hampers of luxury food things !

Have given up buying STUFF as I am fed up of seeing it piled up in the spare room forever after ! They apparently don't NEED anything - but have never had the sense to agree to a "no presents rule" although I have suggested it several times ! So - I get to waste my money so they can add to the pile of things "we didn't really need !"

Was sorely tempted by an Oxfam leaflet the other day - buy a goat in Bangladesh or something !! At least that would do someone some good !!

Sorry - rant over !

dad - a new shirt..we regularly try to funky him up at Xmas (me and my mum that is), so this year it's a pink and blue checked affair...v. cool

We've taken some cute photos of our DD and had them made into blown up canvas pictures. Done with Next Directory. They look fab and I think they cost about £30 ish.

KathyMCMLXXII · 17/11/2006 16:53

My dad has asked me for the book from the Heston Blumenthal tv series - turn out he is really into it and has been trying the recipes so we will probably be served vacuum-cleaner aerated chocolate this Xmas
