Does your DH or DP do the Christmas Shopping

Mine doesn't, except for what he buys me. I get the 'you're better at it than me' or 'you know I don't like shopping when it's busy'. If I don't give him a list of exactly what to get, where to get it and a handful of vouchers (how much??? he cries), he doesn't do it.

I have to give him ideas of what to get me. He does come up with some ideas for DS. The other classic is if people ask him what to get DS. His standard reply is 'oh I'm not sure, you'll need to ask my wife'.

We do it together. But we're really decisive on what we're getting people, from where so it doesn't take us too long

kslatts · 16/11/2006 13:01

Usually my Mum looks after our 2 dd's and we go shopping for their presents together.

My dh now works shifts and is on a day off tomorrow so has offered to go and get both dd's main presents and some stocking fillers.

cremolafoam · 16/11/2006 13:03

no -but he pays for it

gscrym · 16/11/2006 13:05

You're so lucky. Even the site of the Boots gift guide makes DH break out in a cold sweat.

yes THE CATALOGUES OF DISASTER
dh lights the fire with them.

NomDePlume · 16/11/2006 13:08

No

DH is a terrible shopper, he looks like this after about 10 minutes.

kimi · 16/11/2006 13:29

DH1 and i shop together although he is really good at getting things and will do so by himself.
My new DP hates shopping of any sort so if you cant get it from amazon then its a non starter, in fact apart from getting his mum something (last minuet on the way to get the train home for christmas before he and i were living together) he does not "do" christmas gifts, oh i think he is in for a shock this year

peanutbutterkid · 16/11/2006 13:30

ROFL, to thread title. I have to give him specific direx to buy my pressie, else he comes up with the most horrid ideas.

Ah, 2 b fair, he gets his mum's and brother's pressies.

janinlondon · 16/11/2006 13:39

Dear God NO! And to be honest, mankind is probably the better for it.

doggiesayswoof · 16/11/2006 13:41

We do it together. He spends more time looking at gift catalogues than I do - he looooves christmas

coppertop · 16/11/2006 13:46

Dh buys for his side of the family and I buy for my side. We both decide what to buy ds1&2 (and dd this year) and one of us will go out to get it. Sometimes it's easier for dh to fetch them in his lunch hour and sometimes it's easier for me to go while dh looks after our 3 children.

motherinferior · 16/11/2006 13:47

He does his own, I do my own.

dmo · 16/11/2006 14:08

TLV · 16/11/2006 14:15

dh buy for his family and I mine best way to do it imo as he knows what they like more than I do

doggiesayswoof · 16/11/2006 14:15

got it...silly me.
dh wraps ours as well and puts shopping away.
couldn't let him put stuff in drawers though, no sirree

wanderingstar · 16/11/2006 14:16

Mine buys a few of the children's presents - we have 4 - but overall I buy the rest - cards, gift wrap etc. Actually I think I'll get him to help me wrap them all this year; it always takes longer than I think it will (or is that just me?)
