God I don't know, Not for want of ideas but because he's asked for so many things I can't decide and I wanted to give him a surprise. I bought a philosophy football t-shirt that he said he liked but then had to give it to him for an anniversary present as they ring I wanted to get him was too small and couldn't be enlarged. I bought him the Billy Bragg book feeling very pleased with myself - then he told me that he wanted it so that was another surprise gone! He wants a top from Fat Face, a remote control speed boat or a stand alone turntable for all his old vinyl....but I want to get him a surprise....

I'm stumped...

McDreamy · 14/11/2006 11:16

At least he has given you some ideas.....I don't have any. I'm really really stumped. He's a bit of a gadget man but I wouoldn't know where to start. Also he's off to Afghanistan soon so was trying to find something that might help his time out there but again - stumped!

Here is Dh's list of "idaes" of things he would like for christmas

One of those body protector things that rugby players wear under their shirts - but he's only a referee!
Rosslyn Revealed, a new book about Rosslyn Chapel
Peter Kay's autobiography
Navy blue rugby shorts
An electric razor
and something for the PC, can't remember what it was.

i have also bought him the Edinburgh version of Monopoly

Debbiethemum · 14/11/2006 11:23

What about this then, it is what I am getting my dh link

McDreamy · 14/11/2006 11:24

Has anyone ever bought their dp/dh, or indeed themselves, a driving day? I'm thinking of getting dp a Ferrari driving day but I can't decide if it seems like a lot of money for not much pressie iyswim? Is that just because I'm not interested in cars?

The cheapest I can find near me is £99 for 5 laps in a Ferrari.

southeastastra · 14/11/2006 11:37

a chocolate orange and some lynx

McDreamy · 14/11/2006 11:38

My mum bought that for my brother's 30th - he said it was fantastic! I have bought hotair balloon ride, flying lesson and a helipcopter trip over Manhatten before for Xmas pressies and they have all been worth it.

At this rate, nothing. Cant afford to. Lets hope he will be happy with a xmas fumble under the duvet.

ratclare · 14/11/2006 11:39

i was going to buy a new briefcase for him but he muttered something about one of those tomtom navigational gadgets that goes in the car , which is a bugger because i was going to wack the briefcase on my m&s card , other than that ,book,cd ,new shirt ,boring stuff

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 11:40

I have done the driving thing before - I bought DH a rally driving day a few years ago and he LOVED it, a friend of mine sent her husband too so they went together which was nice.

I am buying DH this year - an Aquascutum shirt if I can find a stockist (he already has one which he lurrrrves), some M and S jumpers (dull but necessary), a few books and some new aftershave.

Boring but like you say - what do you buy the man who has everything!!?

lorina · 14/11/2006 11:42

A digital camera.
Again.
Apparently this one is much better.

And a reference book that I have just ordered

McDreamy · 14/11/2006 11:43

It was his birthday on Sunday and I bought him a digital camera so can't get that one again!!

laughinglil · 14/11/2006 11:59

my dh seems to have anything.. I thought about it.. pressie was between an xbox 360 (the big kid he is) or a trip away somewhere..
I have booked a weekend away to dublin. so i get something out of it as well!

LaDiDaDi · 14/11/2006 11:59

Ok, bought it!
Ended up paying £115 so that he can do some more laps. Just a bit worried that you can only use it between March and November so he will have a bit of a wait until he can actually do it.

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 12:17

He's having a day at the Falconry Centre - and so is my brother!! It's a fabulous day for £85 very "hands on" with the birds of prey.

Last year they had vouchers to go on a cookery course at Ashbuton Cookery School - they chose Middle Eastern .... I swear if I have another Tagine there'll be trouble !!!

gegs73 · 14/11/2006 12:34

I'm getting mine a digital radio for one of his presents. I was quite disappointed though as I thought it could pick up any radio station you wanted, but its dependant on the area you live in and whats available. Still he is so fussy I can't think of anything else so thats what hes getting

Probably get him some sweets, recordable DVDs, aftershave - the usual stuff too.

intergalacticwalrus · 14/11/2006 12:37

Mine's getting a clip round the ear and nowt else.

If I'm feeling generous, it might be socks

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 13:06

Would that be a diamond clip IGW ??? !!

DumbledoresGirl · 14/11/2006 13:08

My only ideas so far are a book I want to read too (although I am not sure if it is out in paperback yet) and a toasting fork.

Not much use to you McDreamy.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 14/11/2006 13:10

Dh announced the other day that 'we aren't going to get each other presents this year are we?'

So I have no idea if I will get him something!

DumbledoresGirl · 14/11/2006 13:16

Just found out that the book I want is not out in paperback until February. Do i buy a hardback copy instead? Why are men so hard to buy for?

lorina · 14/11/2006 14:03

yes definitely get the hardback. It is christmas after all! I am asking for some hardbacks. It so nice to have something good to read
