Christmas Day out

I thought I would post here because if I told anyone in real life they would probably laugh at me because it's only June but I have just booked tickets for me and my 2 DS' for the Magical Christmas at Thomas Land. They will absolutely love it, I'm already excited to see their little faces.

Has anyone been before? Is it any good?

I haven't been though I used to take my DC to Thomas Days and Santa Steam Train at Mangaaps (Burnham-on-Crouch)
Mine are 13 and 15.6 now so all in the dim and distant.

to booking now though. It's sorted, you get to choose the dates/times you want and it's ticked off the list.

I'm looking for something for DD and I (usually ballet) but we might try the IMAX this year.

So, how do you plan to let them know? Maybe the night before or the day before, leave a letter for them (print in lovely fancy writing on coloured paper maybe) and make them promise to have an early night?

I wasn't going to tell them till the night before but your idea of a fancy letter is a great idea. I think i'll do that.

At your kids age a trip to London is always good. (If you don't live there already) . See the lights, visit Hamleys, they have an ice rink out the front of the National History Museum and Winter Wonderland.

We're in Essex so we've taken the DC to London before Christmas every year (and WW, though it's way too big and noisy now sadly)
And Hamleys (we have a Tradition of counting Hamleys bags from the underground to the door)

Not tried the skating, don't fancy a wet bum for the journey home

Unfortunately, my DS (who will be 16 this Christmas) is very much meh when it comes to Family Days Out and London (we went to Harry Potter last year which I booked in August. He tried to whizz through at 90mph to get back to his blardy XBox so I was this close to mangling him)

This year, DD and I will have a London Shopping Day, lights, meal, IMAX and stay in a Premier Inn , use all their bath water to soak myself, then have a huge breakfast and toddle home.

Oohh, 70, what are you planning to see at IMAX?

I wish they'd do Polar Express again, I missed the IMAX version first time round.

We will be doing Winter Wonderland, NHM, Harrods...and something new. I can't think what though.

I need ideas for the least street-wise 12 year old ever (who'd still be delighted with Harrods Santa!).

Is my 7 year old (Thomas obsessed) likely to be overlooked at Thomas Land? My 12 year old would love it too... are the people nice?

I've never been to the IMAX so I'll need to see what's on , ( though I really like the idea of 'Polar Express' on the huge screen )

I did ask DH if he was joining us, his face at the thought of shopping all day with DD said it all.
I think DH and DS will do a pizza/Netflix night .
