Have just tried to gently sound ds1 out about what he might like FC to bring him...

He knows what he wants, he was quite definite about it.

"A recipe for all things".

"Oh, and some proper plates for my kitchen".

I think I can manage the latter

Who else's children have asked for something that doesn't exist?

ha ha!
how old is he? if younger, would he like a children's recipe book/ If older, would he like a compendium of useful facts and trivia?

my DD always looks shocked if asked what she would like FC to bring her, and says to the questioner that it should be a surprise.

leaves me rather floundering around trying to guess what's going to hit the mark.

fortyplus · 13/11/2006 11:27

My ds2 always says 'I don't mind - I like surprises and whatever I get is always lovely'. No pressure then! Bless him.

Heathcliffscathy · 13/11/2006 11:29

wow, a recipe for all things....what a cool kid greensleeves

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 13/11/2006 18:32

He is cool..... except today, when I could cheerfully have knocked his block off

I might try and get him a simple recipe book for his kitchen, actually, I'm not sure whether it's what he wants but I think he would love it anyway

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 13/11/2006 18:33

He's 4.2, Hovely, going on 15

does she want to go to school?

nikkie · 13/11/2006 20:38

yes constantly!comes home and wants to do homework books! Its getting daft now though she wouldn't go to bed because she wanted to finshed the book.

When DS1 was about 3 or 4, he wanted a magic wand, "a real one to make people disappear"! The year after he wanted Tippex, and now, at the age of 11, he still asks for nice simple things.

fortyplus · 14/11/2006 10:12

When ds1 was 3 he wanted a real carpet sweeper. Good old Santa brought him one.

Enid · 14/11/2006 10:15

I asked dd1 yesterday

she just laughed and said 'oh dear I don't know. I don't mind really. I don't suppose I'll get a pony'

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 14/11/2006 10:16

MrsMuddle, buy him a pea shooter. That's a sort of wand that makes people disappear

fortyplus · 14/11/2006 10:21

Just remembered that when ds2 was 7 he wanted a FILING CABINET! Settled for one of those tall chests of drawers with baskets that pull out instead of drawers.

stleger · 14/11/2006 10:42

My 14 year old is gettin a desk with a set of filing drawers - he has coveted my friend's for ages!

A children's recipe book is a great idea. I still have mine and our dcs have one. Maybe an apron as well, real wooden spoons etc. DD asked for a snowman ice lolly when she was 2 (those were the days, it's a Nintendo DS Lite this year!).
