Bascially a book with a crafty type activity for each day of advent.

I had one when I was a kid and I LOVED it.

The first activity (Dec 1st) was to spray last year's tree with white glitter aerosol

but it was fab

does anyone know what I am talking about?

I think it may have been usbourne? (usually is for these things though) or pos ladybird?

Answering to keep this bumped for you.

At Borders I saw they were selling a book called Christmas is Coming. I'm afraid it isn't quite hte advent book you were looking for but it does have lots of different activities to complete - make cards, make Xmas gift tags, make Xmas postbox, write letter and post it, make a tree (all these to be done with the bits and pieces provided in the book) etc.

this one?

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 12/11/2006 07:05

um

right, thanks for looking, but

its not so much a book of activities for advent, as a book with an activity for each day of advent. And none of your namby pamby reflections on a log, this is full blown sticky back plastic and glitter glue.

So say, Dec 1st is spray last years tree with toxic chemicals, Dec 2nd make peppermint creams dec 3rd ...something involving paper snowflakes, as I recall.

I guess I could make my own

Well that is what that book purports to be (day by day including craft activity).

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 12/11/2006 07:41

oooh is it?

I didn't see that bit.

hang on

hmm

interesting

I guess it looks more like maybe...workship and so on activities. We are not religious, so...hmmm

but

interesting

no prayers in it though, unless they went over my little atheist head

No idea but would you like to see my advent calendar?

LadyMuck · 12/11/2006 07:50

Unfrotuantley it is hard to disassociate "Advent" from religion!

Now Christmas on the other hand is almost totally disassociated!

It ios a lovely idea though - if you get it let me know what it is like.

LadyMuck · 12/11/2006 07:52

{Whispers] Filly, your link is by the same authors as mine... Is it the same thing repackaged?

ludaloo · 12/11/2006 07:53

I would Franny!

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2006 07:55

Thank you ludaloo

How kind of you to ask

ludaloo · 12/11/2006 08:00

are you gonna show me then?

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2006 08:01

yes, it is on Active convos now

no-one is looking at it though

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 12/11/2006 08:02

oooh franny...I thought you'd never ask

I always say Advent as the build up to...I dunno...Xmas as a child. I mean, I see how its religious but...it was just an excuse for a glitter glue fest really.

hmm

I'll look...but I can't find it

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 14/11/2006 07:57

hang on

we still haven't found me an advent countdown book!

I think its a fabulous idea.
