And how do you think they will be received?

Mine:

DS1 - ELC keyboard on stand with stool and microphone, does recording and rhythms etc.

DS2 - lovely red drum kit with big bass drum, 4 smaller drums and a cymbal (am very excited about that one )

Between them we are giving them a mini fridge so we can put drinks/snacks in there for them to help themselves to (might live to regret that one )

So, what are yours and why? (This is pure self-indulgence, I love kids and Christmas)

what, no hamsters then?

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 20:37

LOL, but we did buy ds1 a rabbit for his birthday!

I'm tryng to move away from plastic crap and toys (honestly - with four kids there is NOTHING that we don't already have!)

So DD1 (8.5)- Nintendo DS Lite (pink - bought in the states) with a couple of games. And some butterfly fairy lights for her room. And a beginners cross-stitch kit.

DS1 (6) - a basketball net and backboard to put on the TP swingset, and some proper sprung cricket stumps.

DS2 (3) - no idea. He doesn't want anything, doesn't need anything (has just had a birthday) and is a complete outdoor man who is bird happy with his "lawnmower" (aka wooden trolley) in one hand and his black and decker power drill in the other. Hmmmmm. All thoughts/suggestions gratefully received.

DD2 (9 months) - I've got her a bizarre playset thing "bluebell boot" from ELC and apart from that she will get mostly stuff from the attic re-wrapped!!

PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:40

oooh I've remembered I've got DS2 an etch-a-sketch which he played with at someone's house and LOVED.
but that is it so far.

NomDePlume · 10/11/2006 20:41

DS1 (14.5) - a new PC

DS2 (13) - a laptop

DD (4) - no main present this year, just lots of bits

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 20:41

Oh, I've seen the bluebell boot thing, it is gorgeous

How about the ELC stand up workbench/tools? We had to physically drag ds1 out of ELC the other day, he was so taken with it

DD1- Peppa pig play set
DD2- Fisher price piano

Also got them the 'Bubble' and a few games but i think i will be the one playing it on christmas day

DD1 will be pleased with peppa as she has asked for it while out shopping.

DD2 would be happy with a box and some paper (shes only 8 months)

Pinkchampagne · 10/11/2006 20:42

Haven't got anything for DS1 yet & am a bit stuck as to what to get him atm.

DS2 has a Thomas laptop & a Thomas Bubble console. He is Thomas mad!

PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:44

no, we have a workbench. and a tool box (he got that for his birthday and loves it).
I promise, after 8 years of christmases and birthdays and 4 children, 2 of each sex, there isn't ANYTHING we are missing. We could not buy another toy for the next 5 years and it really wouldn't matter.

Except dd2 would have to make do with dd1s slightly mutilated barbies (they are all bald)

PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:45

we have the peppa pig play set - ds2 plays with it a lot. It's great.
that was last christmas's present for him

moondog · 10/11/2006 20:47

i'VE SEEN THAT BLUEBELL BOOT TOO-AND PISSED MYSELF LAUGHING. (Steady....)

Dd is getting a new pair of hob nailed boots and ds a new boot polishing kit.

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 20:48

Um.

How about a set of real gardening tools, and some bulbs and seeds and pots and things?

OP posts:
PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:48

it's horrible, isn't it moondog?
but father christmas has to bring her SOMETHING new otherwise the other three will think she hasn't been a good girl. sigh. more plastic crap

PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:50

BudaBeast · 10/11/2006 20:51

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 20:51

I was intrigued - I had to google the bluebell boot. I think it's quite sweet. and I don't normally do sweet

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 20:51

Oh well, it serves you right for spoiling them

OP posts:
brimfull · 10/11/2006 20:52

ds4yrs is getting lego fire engine and a remote control digger.

JanH · 10/11/2006 20:53

pph, have DS1/2 got walkietalkies?

I love walkie talkies, they are such a lot of fun and nobody in my house has played with them for years

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 20:54

Have they got a planetarium, and a telescope?

Of course they have

OP posts:
PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:54

part of it is that we have a HUGE family and so they tend to get lots of presents on birthdays and christmas.

I'm actually quite minimal on presents compared to many people I think! They get one thing from each of their siblings, and one from dh and me (and at xmas a present from santa and a stocking)

JanH · 10/11/2006 20:54

DS1 & DS2 are sharing an X Box for Christmas, so they tell us. (Well, half an XBox, they are buying the other half themselves )

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 20:55

so far (only started today) eveyrthing I've bought so far is, realistically for both of them, but will wrap up individually in equal numbers iyswim
a card game called Sherlock - which looks quite good fun
another card-like game called Tantrix (?)
Operation (always hankered after it myself...)
Junio Monolpoly - though technically that's from my Uncle
Think of a number book by Johnny Ball
Animal Encyclopaedia
those corrugated plastic tubes that make a whooping sound (rather pleased with those - only £1.50)

PrincessPeaHead · 10/11/2006 20:55

oooh jan, I put walkie talkies on the other thread "things they never play with!"

planetarium..... hmmmm.... wonder if I could build a space telescope before xmas....
