Following from the flop thread - what are your children's *main* presents this year?

And how do you think they will be received?

Mine:

DS1 - ELC keyboard on stand with stool and microphone, does recording and rhythms etc.

DS2 - lovely red drum kit with big bass drum, 4 smaller drums and a cymbal (am very excited about that one )

Between them we are giving them a mini fridge so we can put drinks/snacks in there for them to help themselves to (might live to regret that one )

So, what are yours and why? (This is pure self-indulgence, I love kids and Christmas)

DS (6) is getting:

  • Power Rangers vehicle (main pressie)
  • A PS2 game (bought the console last year so hoping for a 'cheapie' christmas this time around)
  • Junior Monopoly (ebay)
  • Simpsons Uno (ebay)
  • DVD
  • That Annoying Thing
  • Simpsons Alarm Clock
  • Lots of books (Red Nose Readers - thanks Twig!)
  • Stocking fillers from hawkins bazaar
JanH · 10/11/2006 20:58

pph, are yours the headset kind or the press-button-and-say-"over" kind?

marthamoo · 10/11/2006 21:00

Ds1 is having an interactive football thingy - you plug it into the TV and kick an imaginary ball (sounds utterly bizarre I know but it's what he wanted - and I'm hoping my poor lawn might recover a bit without a football-mad 9 year old diving about on it all the time). Oh and Polarity - which won the Science Museum's Best Toy award - it's a board game where the pieces are magnetised so they attract or repel as part of your strategy - the pieces 'float': how cool is that?

Ds2 wanted " a rancor, a magna droid and Mustafar" [Star Wars, if you're baffled]...the last two were findable but the only rancors available are original, circa 1983, ones on ebay. So ds2 is getting a 23 year old second hand plastic monster for Christmas

JanH · 10/11/2006 21:00

mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

marthamoo · 10/11/2006 21:01

Mmm, DS only just 3 by Christmas and not really getting much from us as he's not actually asking for anything as such (of course he wants everything he sees when you go in a shop), so

Scoop
Books x 4
Puzzles x 2
Hot wheels cars
Tigger game
Doctors coat and kit

My mum however cannot stop herself and is getting him a kitchen, the biggest one they do, great.

wannaBe1974 · 10/11/2006 21:09

ds is getting scalectrics, thomas laptop, space puzzle, am sure there will be more. It's his birthday next week and he's getting playmobil airport which I'm informed on here I might live to regret.

framan · 10/11/2006 21:10

DD1 Dora the Explorer Princess Castle. (oh the powers of adverts a la Milkshake and Nick Jr!)
"Santa" is giving her Stephanie outfit
DD2 Fisher Price Little People Schoolhouse.

DS (3) has the Fisher Price Shake n go race tack from ELC.

DD2 (5) wants Baby Born. She has about 4 dolls but her favourite, baby Annabell, has seen better days!

DD1 (6) wants a "surprise". NO idea

NomDePlume · 10/11/2006 21:16

We got dd the pink ELC keyboard and stool, she adores it. Gives us a tune almost every day

FrannyandZooey · 10/11/2006 21:20

I thought we were getting the ELC wooden castle with dolls house furniture to go in it, but after reading the other thread, plus now dp says he is not sure...

Sheraz · 10/11/2006 21:20

i just orderd shake and go race track. Would so recommend the ELC keyboard we are on our 2nd and kids both dtill love it!

eidsvold · 10/11/2006 21:25

dd1 (4) - mini tramp ( elc style) wooden kitchen sink, read along book thingy

dd2 (2) - slide, wooden stove, garden set - tools, wheelbarrow, bug catching kit.

willowcatkin · 10/11/2006 21:27

I have bought dd (5) the animal hospital plane play set as she wants to be a Vet when older. I ahve also bought lots of games - junior monoply, junior scrabble, jack and the beanstalk, and lots of books

Ds (4) has power rangers, Dr who remote control daleks (or is that for dh lol), transformers.

We were thinking of the GLTC castle, but not sure now?

They do love their ELC farm and we have soldiers and tanks they play with so may do.

Sheraz · 10/11/2006 21:30

DS1 ( age 6) has remote dalek and cyberman voice mask, and Ntropy.
DS2 9 3.6) has shake and go track and 'red light green light;
Ds1 has Dr who bedding set, DS2 has 'Cars' bedding set. And lots of other tat!

VanillaMilkshake · 10/11/2006 21:31

DD has got a Megablocks Magnistix thing - cost about £30 and is supposed to be like a rollercoaster - DH chose it - what can I say .

Just hope it allows her to interact with it, unlike the Sodor Post Office we got her and rapidly returned as it was plastic crap and did'nt work for more than two circuits without going wrong

Bozza · 10/11/2006 21:39

Franny DS adores playing with his castle and knights. I would say that has been his no 1 toy this year.

DS (5) is getting:
Power rangers Megazord and a dressing up outfit
Liverpool strip (this will without a doubt be his favourite)
Some more knights, jousting fences, and a playmat to go with the castle.
These are what I would class as main presents.

DD (2) is getting:
wooden dressing table (from JL)
My Little Pony Island Adventure
Presumably a dressing up outfit because DS is - I think she wants Snow White

So that seems like DS is getting a lot more than DD - but the dressing table (which will be assembled on Christmas Eve) will add volume because I agree with californifrau on that being important.

maggiesmama · 10/11/2006 21:41

dd (3) easel and art things and a clock for her bedroom.

seems very tight reading your thread, actually
