We have both, sort of - an angel perched on the top (one of those strawy third-world ones) but also have a glittery star on a wire which we stab into the twig just below the angel.

star

NomDePlume · 09/11/2006 14:34

no idea why.

foxtrot · 09/11/2006 14:35

We have an ancient angel that started life on MIL's tree, it must be about 50 years old and has had a few new frocks, wings and halos in that time. I'm guessing stars and angels because in the nativity story they are up upon high?

oliveoil · 09/11/2006 14:35

fairy

because I saw it in the shop and liked it

foxtrot · 09/11/2006 14:36

LOL at deep OO

Bozza · 09/11/2006 14:36

We have a star. I assume the star is to represent the one above the Bethlehem stable. But why we have one over a fairy I don't know. It is plain matt gold and purchased from W H Smith about 10 years ago.

ludaloo · 09/11/2006 14:37

oooh i could have both then...I like my tatty star but dd1 wants a pink glittery fairy

star- has to have 7 points- not sure why-some long-forgotten German tradition, I expect!

SparklyGothKat · 09/11/2006 14:39

We have a star on the tree. I'm sure it only has five points. We do have a fairy. Think DD made it at Brownies so it does come out every year but it sits on a shelf along with all the clay snowmen the DC have made. We've got clay nativity scene too made by DS1.

gingernut · 10/11/2006 20:52

Star...no idea how many points.

VanillaMilkshake · 10/11/2006 21:25

we have a 5-point star. DD is star-mad! If we had a fairy/angel it would just be a dolly to her and she would be demanding to play with it all the time.

mosschops30 · 10/11/2006 21:26

we have a fairy and she is the most god dam ugly fairy you've ever seen, i hate her!

Perigrine · 10/11/2006 21:28

HOW do we end up with a message deleted on a Star/Fairy discussion!!!!!!

Fairy here!!!

rustybear · 10/11/2006 21:29

We have a baby doll angel that's older than me (and I'm 50!) It's about 4" high and has eyes that still close. It still has it's original dress but it's had lots of wings and halos over the years.

Perigrine · 10/11/2006 21:31

My mums friend bought my fairy as a first xmas present, when I was born! She really didn't want to hand it over to me!!!! But since she had told me for years it was mine - I was having it. It's very very lovely!!!

SaintGeorge · 10/11/2006 21:34

They are supposed to be angels, not fairies

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 21:35

We have a fairy/angel, she is lovely, I can't wait to see her again

PanicPants · 10/11/2006 21:37

We have an angel.

My Mums angel is at least 50 years old and is falling apart, but it wouldn't be Christmas without him/her

Surfermum · 10/11/2006 21:38

Neither, we have gold bells.
