No idea what to get her - we have lot of boy stuff for ds who is 3 next year so I would really like to get her something more girly. Any suggestions? (She is getting a little buggy to push round and a doll from other people)

tea set is ideal. Then maybe basic dolls house, little bed for her doll. I presume you have shape sorters and pull/push along toys? Fairy dress? She might not like them straight away but she probably will before she is two.

Agree with tea set.
Along the doll's house line - what about the Happyland thatched cottage from ELC - it is £25.

me23 · 08/11/2006 19:15

my dd is going to be 18 months at christmas, I've already bought her presents as I didnt want to leave it to the last minute. I bought her a play kitchenware set, teletubbies aquadraw, a winnie the pooh toy buggie a pull along phone and will be gettin her a ride on too.
probably that one 2sprogsmum linked to.

2sprogsmum · 08/11/2006 19:33

oooh, I love the aquadraw, thats a fantastic idea!

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2006 19:34

DD has the Happyland thatched cottage (got it for her birthday) and she loves it .

NAB3 · 08/11/2006 19:36

We have the cottage. My almost 17 month old son loves playing with it. We bought it for my 3 year old daughter when she was 2 and we have quite a few other bits too.

2sprogsmum · 08/11/2006 19:41

I'd love to get something like the cottage but was worried my dd would be too young.

IdrisTheDragon · 09/11/2006 06:24

DD got the cottage for her 1st birthday - I wondwered if she'd be a bit young but she loves it .

ludaloo · 09/11/2006 06:29

my dd will be 17 months...we have got her a ball pool.... with a big bag of balls.

We have also got her a teletubby soft toy with a moving screen on its tummy

I thought about aquadraw too but my ds has the Thomas one and she can just play with that one..

I also have bought a pushchair...my dd2 has a bigger one and they all fight over it so I got dd1 a smaller one.

Rocking Horse?

hansnava · 10/11/2006 17:24

2sprogsmum i brought the discovery dome for dd first birthday and it is nothing but trouble. the roof is constantly falling off and so are the feet she got so so fed up with the roof falling on her head she stopped playing with it now it just sits folded up in corner

hansnava · 10/11/2006 17:27

has anyone got the Fisher Price Bounce & Spin Zebra if so can u please tell me if its any good and if it would be suitable for a 17 month old

sweetkitty · 10/11/2006 17:34

DD1 was 17 months last year she got a doll and pram, a ball pit with balls, an aquadraw, a Little People Noahs Ark and the animals that's all I can remember.

The Little People are great since then she has got a castle and a bus and I've got her a house for this Christmas she plays with them every day (as does DD2).

Little play shoes and a bag are also favourites here, DD1 goes around putting everything in her handbag all day long.

Best present we bought for DD at that age (and she still loves it now at nearly 3 and so do all her friends) is an indoor swing. A chunky wooden one, on ropes. You just find the wooden beam in the ceiling and put in 2 hooks, so you can take it down when not needed. Hours of fun. Even I squeezed my fat arse into it once. It was great.

2sprogsmum · 12/11/2006 08:48

Thanks hansnava, I won't bother with that one then!

TLV · 12/11/2006 18:01

having read this thread I think i've gone overboard on prezzies for dd who will be 18mths at xmas, she is getting the tomy discovery dome but i'm doing that over the internet from boots (so i can get my points ) have got the aquadraw but i'm liking the idea of the tea set, problem with starting xmas shopping so early is that you just keep on going

RuthT · 12/11/2006 19:06

Anyone know where to get the tea set. I saw one ages ago that came in a bag (v handy) but can't find it now

cjmummy · 12/11/2006 19:35

RuthT I think i saw a tea set in Tesco the other day. Not sure whether it is the one you are thinking of or not!

Elza82 · 13/11/2006 12:56

Ooh, I've just come across a useful site toys.nursery-guide.info/choose/12-18-months.php with a special page for how to choose toys for a 12-18 month year old. Lots of ideas to be had there and they're also running a survey where you can win £100 in Early Learning Centre vouchers.
