can't decide what to do. can sleep 6 adult guests plus small children. hotel round corner could perhaps accommodate overspill. wouldn't know how to decide who was overspill. votes please, taking into account usual family fairness and crap.

my side:
db1, sil, dneice(3), perfect guests
dm, good guest, but witters a bit. bless.
db2 and sil 2, dnephew (3), slight tendency to only help when large amounts of praise are bandied around in return, possibly need to include sil2's 18 and 19 year old - both lovely, but don;t know them well.

dh's side
sil - good guest, good with kids. good fun, will cook but only ambitious stuff that involves large amounts of time in the kitchen
sil2 and her dh and dnephew and dneice - probably wouldn't come anyway, would want to watch tv all day
fil and his dw - pretty good, but sometimes stress me out by clearly thinking I make too much fuss

Your mother has to come first I would have said. After that perhaps db1, then dh's parents would haev to go to. Perhaps you could squeeze in his sil?

Parents always come first and those with children I'd stick in a hotel cause I'm mean!

where the hell did that apostrophe come from

Couldn't you do your side of the family one year and dh's the next? Any overspill could go to hotel - (thinking teenagers or sil2). 'Elderly' and those with young children would take priority for me.

On the other hand, you obviously have too large a house. Please swap(with me) and your dilema will be solved as no room at the inn.
