what are you doing for Valentine's day? I said on here in Jan that we would keep some nice Christmas traditions going - candles on the table, nice weekend food and celebrations of o other key dates. I want a family Valentine's day plan - probably nice baked goods etc knowing me Grin Any ideas /plans yourself? do share please...

Probably will have a nice meal with candles etc.

If I had thought of it in advance I would make a collage/chose a picture that meant a lot to us and have it framed.

I encouraged dd to make a card for dh today - just a big glue heart that she stuck confetti type stars on, and wrote "dadd" underneath - but she is just nearly 3, so he will be pleased with that I hope, and not expecting intricate craft gifts from her.
Otherwise, am just buying dh a card, and cooking what I hope (with no great confidence of success) might be a nice meal -a sort of Persian mezze. It will be more faffy than the type of meal I normally cook, when I cook at all!
Dmil is desperate for us to come over and make Valentines a family event, but at the moment we're saying no, let's keep it just for us, and do more of a family thing the day after!

Sounds lovely! I need to get the glitter out clearly - dcs can compensate for my disorganization Grin

As we are flying out for our family holiday this year on Valentine's Day, it will be low key. I have all the family's fav chocs (Leonidas orangettes) to enjoy on hols, quite a large bag. But otherwise, ell see what we find in Austria on arrival.

Might do a nice meal for DH (though we were planning a takeaway from our favourite Chinese, DD was up in arms because she's away -and she loves the food- so we'll leave that till later)

DS will venture out if I bribe him with chips.

There will be candles, tablecover, nice glasses. Just need to decide what to cook......

My daughter Biddy Grin
I know it's a big place but she'll be one of 10000s of teenagers/preteens whizzing down a slope (well , falling on her bum ) Wink

I have so many work colleagues telling me that their teenagers will be heading all over Europe on the same thing!

I expect both our DDs can join up, and laugh at the oldies trying to stay upright (Dh and I)!

Tho my dd might cramp your DDs style - she's not old enough for school outings yet

Turns out we are busy on Saturday after all that! I am severely tempted to wimp out and do an Ocado meal for 15quid on Friday instead. Slightly extravagant but you can include a box of choccies as well as dessert which I might keep quiet about Grin The DCs can help make pink cupcakes for weekend munching. Just need to dust off the candles and prepare a vase for the flowers that won't come!!Grin

I've told DH that Saturday will be my Home Spa Day (body scrub, wax, hair dye, bath, face pack) so I might force him to cook. >

We're taking DS out for his favourite Carvery meal on Sunday
