Anyone else have a great Christmas?

There seems to be so many threads about family fights, rubbish presents, ungrateful kids etc. I thought I'd buck the trend and say what a great day I had

miraculously didn't have to work. Every one of the presents I bought was a success and I got some gorgeous things. Dinner was delicious and it was lovely spending the day with my immediate family

Who else had a fantastic day Smile

I did!

It was pretty full on - 14 of us for Xmas Eve, 18 of us for Xmas Day. But everyone had fun. Plus my little nieces brought the magic of Santa back which was lovely.

Both my teens said yesterday that it was great and made me promise that next year we won't decamp to Barbados (which I always threaten).

In fact this will be the last Xmas in this house, and I'm glad our memories will be so positive.

Same here, two lovely Christmas Days (Boxing Day is a re-run with different family members)
Lovely gifts graciously received- whatever they thought about them privately Grin. Good food, good company and lots of laughs along the way.

We did! It was just a fun day with gifts that we didn't pull faces at, food that was edible, games, giggles, a walk, visiting neighbours, and prosecco on the go for me all day.

A few minor issues like the cat misbehaved. MiL made an upsetting phone call that could have soured the day. But I ignored it all and drank prosecco.

Me! Everyone happy, and managed to actually fill up my 13yo DS, who couldn't quite finish his Christmas dinner! More family on Boxing Day and yesterday, turkey curry day today. All good!

Lovely Xmas here with DH, DD (10) and me, thanks! Went to cinema Xmas Eve then home to put mince pies and carrots out for Santa and Rudolph. DD went to bed and DH and I wrapped presents without losing Sellotape/scissors/gifts/our tempers Grin

DD absolutely thrilled with her gifts. I genuinely don't get children who paddy about their presents.

DH cooked delicious Xmas lunch (no kitchen martyrs in this house!) and dog enjoyed her walk in winter sunshine. Rest of the day spent watching DVDs and tackling new Lego set.

Have rotten cold now and houseful of visitors but a happy DD.

We had a fantastic time too. We spent a few days before Christmas visiting our lovely extended family then came back home.

On the big day everything seemed to work out. Everyone liked their presents and all plates were cleared. We've had a lovely couple of days since - the only blot on the landscape is DH is coming down with a stinker of a cold.

Best Christmas since I was a kid - our DDs first one. She didn't have a clue but it was so much more fun with here and seeing her enjoying her presents.Smile

I think a break from work was enough in itself.

Yes, we had a great time. My 2 sisters, BIL and Nephew over for the day, small numbers but a very relaxed and laid back day. DH made the most amazing Turkey dinner.
Presents were well received, everybody got some lovely things.
Next sale on Boxing Day morning with my friend and sister was also a highlight.
Still on a bit of a high, feeling so happy and lucky.

Not our usual christmas as woke up to contractions which stopped long enough to get round to my DPs with DS have some dinner, pull a cracker or two before heading to the hospital that night and giving birth to DS2 early hours of Boxing Day Grin
So hectic, rushed and painful but yep overall had a great Christmas Xmas Grin

Yes. I have worked hard to stop dysfunctional/unpleasant relatives from being around at/ruining Christmas as they have caused me so much stress. These days we have a nice low-key christmas with just our own DC and have friends round for Christmas dinner (but no one staying over). No stress, no guilt, no travel, no awful present angst and no treading on eggshells. If you are having a miserable christmas with extended family I can recommend just telling them you're not doing it any more.

4yo DD has had a few strops but that's par for the course! Both kids liked their (fairly modest) presents and have had lots of fun playing with them.

I had a fabulous Christmas despite waking up with a stinking cold on the day , having been up until 2am as DS was still awake and then up at 7am and not particularly feeling up to cooking for 13. The meal went well, it was all lovely and out on time and had such a lovely time with my family. We laughed until we cried at some of the presents.

I bought far, far too much food! But otherwise Christmas was very relaxing and I felt pretty refreshed by yesterday as I set myself to work and did several jobs that required a lot of concentration. And I slept until 11:25 this morning - a sure sign that I am unwinding!

I too had a great Xmas. Christmas Day was at my dd,s but ds and his wife did the cooking.it was only the second time ever I haven't done the dinner for my kids and their kids. On Boxing Day I had everyone here for a cold buffet, eleven of us.
I had the most lovely gifts ( lots of them ) and not a cross word from anyone. It was lovely to be with my ds and my dd together.
And o Xmas day we had a modelling session from gd,s boyfriend !

Also a lovely (quiet) Christmas. Tried cooking the turkey according to the radio times - not a good result but fun trying it out - ate chocolate, drank wine, chilled in front of films and walked manic dog and manic nephews in the woods.

Nephews were thrilled with their Christmas Eve box and everyone liked presents even DF!

Yes, absolutely lovely. The DDs got on and didn't fight, loved their presents, played games and it was just nice spending time together.

Came back to reality with a bump together as woke up to find DD vomiting everywhere Hmm.

I had a great great Christmas, despite a bad cough. Lots of games and fun, I buggered up the christmas presents for one of my grown DCs a bit but they took it well and just laughed and the DCs have said it's been one of the best Christmas times ever. Also my DH gave me a superb present, quite unlike him because he's normally pretty useless so I am chuffed to bits!

Congratulations Ellis, I was born on Christmas day at two minutes to midnight so suspect my own dm had the same sort of Christmas as you that year.

We had a lovely Christmas, lovely food, very happy little dd and good company with my adult dc. Feel very relaxed and not at all stressed so hope to repeat next year.

Me! Lovely quite xmas, just me, Ds (2) and Dh. All Ds gifts were a big success and it was so lovely watching him open and play with them. The weather was sunny and dry and we had a lovely walk in the woods, then home for xmas lunch. My pressies were just what I wanted and the family programmes on Iplayer were really restful and christmassy.

We've had the best Christmas ever! We had a lovely onesie party as sil's house on Christmas eve. Ds (5)5 was so happy to come downstairs to 'my own real motorbike!' And he loved his other presents too. Ds had a go on his motorbike and picked it up straight away and is doing so well that he's doing his first trial
On 11th Jan!

Then we went back to sil's for breakfast and to exchange presents and ds had another go on his bike with his cousins.

After that we came home for a bit of a chill then went to my sister's to have a Christmas themed buffet and exchange presents with my side of the family, which was lovely.

After that it was way past ds's bedtime and me and Dh watched the Christmas soaps.

It was such a fun but chilled out day and the decision not to make a full Christmas dinner was perfect for us.

On Boxing Day, after more motorbike riding, we had Christmas dinner at a lovely pub ( which would have cost 3 times as much the day before!) then went to a local pantomime followed by a friend's party for a bit.

The fun isn't over yet either as tomorrow we're off the Disneyland Paris for new year Grin
