What did you get this year that really blew you away?

It sounds really silly but I am totally over the moon with two pairs of slippers my siblings bought for me.

The diamond earrings from DH. I have been drooling over a pair of princess cut solitairs for years. I love them so much I'm going to wear them every day for the rest of my life.

The old map of the region we currently live in from a friend. Such a thoughtful present.

IAmAPaleontologist · 27/12/2014 18:25

mil has offered to pay for a meal out for me and dh Smile .

and dh noticed my slipper socks had holes in and got me new ones which are so snuggly that when i put them on in my mum's warm house my feet startes to sweat Grin . perfect in our old, draughty less warm house though.

Am stupendously happy with all I got, but my lovely parents got DH and I entry into the Burghley dirty race race in May Grin.

Chanel coco mademoiselle eau de perfum, big bottle - from my parents!
Also snowflake cookie yankee candle jar - smells gorgeous!

Altinkum1 · 27/12/2014 19:16

Mine wasn't a gift for me, it was a gift for my ds2, he has multiple allergies, (including digesting protein and casein) but loves baking, so I got him a basket full of baking goodies just for him that he could make, bake and eat.

Little thing cried when he got it. Me, dh, his brother and grandparents also cried.

losthermind how lovely, congratsFlowers

HeyheyheyGoodbye · 27/12/2014 19:30

My DM and auntie clubbed together to get me the most beautiful diamond earrings and necklace as a combined Christmas/congratulations present for a personal goal I achieved this year. I have never had any 'real' jewellery before - aside from my wedding and engagement rings - so they are very precious and special to me.

Also my new fluffy dressing gown from DH which has a hood like a cat's head Grin

LumionaMoonsplash · 27/12/2014 19:32

A curling hairdryer I bought for myself. The best present is the ILs, and GPs having the DDs for a few nights so DH and I can go away for a dirty weekend Xmas Wink

A book token. I'm so excited at the thought of spending quiet time browsing, having a coffee, picking up books and feeling their covers, before deciding what to choose.

I may need a few visits before choosing my books...

KittyandTeal · 27/12/2014 19:48

That DH didn't have to work on Boxing Day like we'd expected. He has worked every other day over Christmas though.

Was lovely to have a proper day with all the family.

Mrwillywonkasbitch · 27/12/2014 20:06

I think losthermind wins! Congratulations! :o Thanks

I think my favourite would be a toy Adipose (character from Dr who) - my adult DSS saw one and got it for me. I haven't mentioned them for a long time and I just can't believe he remembered how much I love them :)

clr2014 · 29/12/2014 11:01

A kindle. I have fallen head over heels... Didn't realise I would love it nearly as much as I do!

BikeRunSki · 29/12/2014 11:11

Me too clr Grin

mumtobetothree · 29/12/2014 14:57

Our baby!

Went for a routine appointment the day before christmas eve and her heartrate was all over the place, they whipped her out by c-sec there and then. We came home late christmas eve evening and I'm just so thankful that they detected a problem and acted so promptly as I'd had no signs of there being a problem.

She was a couple of weeks early, a teensy 5lbs but held her temp, fed well and her apgar scores were fantastic, we've been so, so lucky. The best christmas ever!!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 29/12/2014 16:54

Oh that's lovely mumtobe Xmas Grin
Your name ain't so current anymore!

My parents got me some very thoughtful & lovely presents this year. Really kind, but also very upsetting. For years they've not put any thought or caring into the token pressie they got. Upsetting as this year just before Christmas my dad had a huge heart problem and is very very ill. Didn't get to spend Christmas with them, except the hospital visiting. Sodding irony im sure.

nowahousewife · 29/12/2014 17:08

Lots of lovely thoughtful presents from my DH and DC's but my fave is one of those glass snowfall paperweight thingy's from my DD aged 16. It was one where you could put your own photo's in and on one side she put a photo of her and DS and on the other a photo of her and me. I just keep shaking it and looking at us thought the falling snowflakes.

Pyjamaface · 29/12/2014 17:08

A film cell from Serenity from a friend.

Slipper boots from my parents which are incredibly warm and a big long jumper DM knitted. There is a huge draft coming down my chimney atm but I'm nice and toasty Grin
