Popular songs to put on ipod

We've bought an iPod for my daughter this Christmas and I want to set it up today ready for her to use on the big day. I have a slight problem though. I have no idea which songs are popular with 9 year olds these days. I thought of putting 10 songs on it for her - any ideas from those of you who know who the heck is in the charts nowadays?

What kinds of things would she like?

My DD's loved my DH's soft rock favourites at that age! :)

CatCushion · 23/12/2014 14:46

So DD has just suggested The Swimming song by Fairport Convention! Grin

Budapest/George Ezra is recent and a nice song...

She is so not fussed and we listen to a pop music radio station in the car. She'll say 'I like that song' but has no idea who sings it. She still plays with dolls and had the Disney princess songs CD last year which she loved. I get the feeling her taste in music will be like mine - I'll listen to anything and sort of know the words but I have no idea who the artists are.

current number one I think is Ben haenow recent x factor winner if she's in to that. also popular here is uptown funk by mark ronson, all about that bass megan traynor( not sure how her last name is spelt at all!)

ilovepowerhoop · 23/12/2014 15:27

Hoe about getting the most recent That's what I call music album and it will have a selection of tracks on it

ilovepowerhoop · 23/12/2014 15:30

number 89 is the most recent btw

CatCushion · 23/12/2014 15:31

Please no, not All About The Bass. Too sexist to be listened to repeatedly by one so young!

pilipala29 · 23/12/2014 15:41

Hadn't thought of that.i've got the original tape somewere - I could put a bit of UB40 in there - Red, Red Wine anyone?

Well that's what I was listening to at that age! Grin
Trying to remember their good song...not Rat in the Kitchen! How about Kingstom Town? I've got You, Babe?

ilovepowerhoop · 23/12/2014 15:58

I had the now 6 album!

chumaniward1 · 23/12/2014 16:50

Ed sheeran's album- thinking out loud, sing etc.

Sam smith

Starfishiecloverhv · 23/12/2014 16:54

Ed sheerans album has swearing and alot of songs about sex. I wouldn't recommend for a 9 year old

Starfishiecloverhv · 23/12/2014 16:55

I'd second the now 89 album or Taylor swift?

lecherslady · 23/12/2014 17:58

My eight year old likes:

Latest now album
The George Ezra song Budapest
uptown Funk (Bruno Mars)
Latest Olly Murs song (wrapped up)
All about the bass (radio version not too bad)

My eleven year old likes these songs too. She also likes:

Bang Bang
