What have you bought your parents? Mine are early 70's & I am stuck for ideas

What on earth can I get my parents, I've spent ages looking and fed up now. They are both early 70's.
My dad has some memory loss difficulties & it's been quite a stressful year for my mum. I would really like to do something nice for them for about £50.00.
My mum said he needs some gardening gloves but surely I can do better than that for him?!

Any ideas gratefully received, getting desperate!

A voucher for or take them out somewhere nice for an afternoon cream tea

Dad - a sudoku-a-day calendar and a tin for men's bits and bobs.
Mum - nice soaps, a microfibre hair towel (decent make, not poundshop, she wanted this).

Also a few nice foody bits, but restricted because they have allergies and don't really drink.

My dad has amongst other things got a nest box camera like on spring watch.

dm is early 70s and I have given her a box containing a biography she was after, a bottle of olay she always asks for and a set of plates with hand painted Christmas scenes.

df was always easy - a packet of Garibaldi, a jar of piccalilli and a string vest - He asked for the same every year. Still think of him whenever I see piccalilli.

If your mum is a reader, Miss Carters war by Sheila Hancock

I get my dad an annual subs to The Week magazine.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 22/12/2014 22:12

Have you read that Florentina? I've got it on my Amazon wish list.

My GPs are 79 and 81.
I have made a hamper with coffee capsules for their machine, a chrome coffee pod holder, 2 latte and 2 cappuccino cups.
Grandma also has a blouse from Per Una, an M&S Royal Jelly set, and some body spray.
Grandpa has a Ukelele Beatles Music book (he's a keen uke player), a Nike cap and a Costa coffee cup and saucer.

Thanks for all the lovely ideas. I think I'm trying too hard to find the perfect gift! My lovely dad would be delighted with some gardening gloves & a bottle of red!

If you are buying gardening gloves check out Gold Leaf. They are excellent and do a big variety.
