Or is it too early to do so?

I would take it out tomorrow - long time until Thurday

I have a 5kg turkey and its claiming it will take 20hrs to defrost, that's the whole bird so maybe you're jumping the gun a bit! Smile

I'm taking mine out Tues morning as instructed by the butcher.

QueenFuri · 21/12/2014 17:09

I'm taking mine out around lunchtime Tuesday to prepare on Wednesday night.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 21/12/2014 17:33

QueenFuri, what are you doing to it to prepare it? I was going to bung it in the oven with some butter and lemon and orange zest.

No, not unless you want it to poison everyone.

Artandco · 21/12/2014 17:40

Tuesday night should be fine. It will be full defrosted wed night and won't cook until Thursday

Mini05 · 21/12/2014 18:01

When you say defrost do you still mean in the fridge? Or out on the side in kitchen never bought frozen before

Nothavingfunrightnow · 21/12/2014 18:02

Defrost in the fridge.

I just cover in butter, salt, pepper and streaky bacon them cover in foil and put back in the fridge, I take it out the fridge about half an hour before I start cooking it though.
