As the question asks, do you give xmas cards to neighbours?

I grew up with some great neighbours and we regularly went to parties both sides. Then moved to my own place and married my next door neighbour! We got on brilliantly with our old neighbours and will continue to give a few of them cards, and pop back to see them. We moved this year, new neighbours seem nice enough and wondering what's normal and if we should give them cards (we are in a close and one lot up the top have given us one, as well as our immediate nextdoor neighbour). At the same time don't want to feel like we're forcing ourselves on them.

We always have done in previous years. We've just moved too and intend to give out cards to our neighbours here as well. I found it was a good way to get to know people in our previous street.

Hi, I am in a flat and have always given a card to my neighbours and I usually get one from them. I am in a flat and there is one neighbour who never gives any of us a card so I have stopped giving them one.

We moved into our current house last year and one of the nicest things was getting christmas cards from several neighbours. It never happened in our old house.
I've kept them all so I can put names on them this year.

Yes, I give cards on either side (terraced house). We are on speaking terms with both but I would have sent one anyway.

No. Neighbour that's attached to us (semi) is a miserable wanker and I don't like him very much, feelings mutual too . Neighbours that aren't attached just handed us a Christmas card today but it was more of a thank you for constantly taking parcels in for them... I'm not sending one back. I don't do Christmas cards, it's the one part of Christmas I just don't like.

I give to quite a few of the neighbours. Over the years I've worked out that some don't return cards, and not that I give to receive but I've stopped bothering.

It's friendly and makes me feel part of a community even in deepest darkest Hackney. I like to write a little note in each card (not war & peace, just along the lines of "I love the lights in the front garden, hope your mum is feeling better etc") which I feel maintains a relationship as we don't all see each other that often. Some years DH and I have held drinks for the neighbours too.

Yes, those that I know which is two lots on one side and three lots on the other. We don't socialise as such but will all stop and chat to each other in the street and do favours such as taking in parcels, looking out while people are on holiday etc. They all do cards too.

Yes, the ones I know to say hi to. It was lovely to get cards from them when we first moved here.

Used to give to immediate neighbours - now we are on a street with only a few houses and we see a fair bit of each other, so we do for all of them. Our immediate neighbours are lovely anyway and we all take in parcels for each other, keep an eye on houses when people are away, put bins in/out if they are missed and so on, so a card seems very reasonable really!
