Soooooo....
My house is a tip, seriously awful Xmas Blush
I have a few gifts still to buy. Get paid Thursday, Amazon basket is ready to go and I have Prime so hopefully no issues there.
No food ordered. Friend has a joint of venison put aside for us but so far that's it.
Cards written but not delivered.
Decorations down from loft but that's as far as it went.
One of four stockings made- very nice it is too but not much consolation to the non stocking owning recipients.
Bits for wreath sat on the dining table since Friday.

And I started so early as well but took my eye off the ball

I am good at making lists. I bought presents in bloody September, pregnant this year and couldn't face a last minute rush...
I now still have to sew a tent for dds New bed, buy another 4 presents, 1 I know what I'm getting, the other 3 no idea..the house is a tip, I have to finish about abother 3 presents off and make up a hamper for my parents, plus nothing's wrapped. Oh and cards!
we've all been ill with the winter vomiting bug since last Sunday, I was all ready for a productive week after having it Thursday and then woke up this morning with a dodgy tum again.
Have given up. May just lay on the sofa making lists and watching my pride and prejudice DVD.

unlucky83 · 15/12/2014 09:12

I've been putting off putting the tree for a couple of weeks now...got it out the attic to do this weekend and it just hasn't happened
Bought most of the children's presents - few more to go...never get round to wrapping until Christmas eve anyway. Have a few things in my Amazon basket -but waiting to see if I need anything else (I forgot one cheap DVD from an Amazon order a few weeks ago - clicked order and then remembered. I had to cancel the whole thing and reorder or pay shipping...couldn't work out how to just add it on Blush
No idea what I'm getting DP - I've bought my present from him- only way to stop him buying me mountains of tat.

Main children's present (digital piano - joint) ordered to be delivered to the shop to collect ...a week ago and no news - feeling a bit twitchy!
Ordered turkey last Fri...and chipolatas -will have to brave shops for rest.
Haven't written a single card yet...
I do have a list on computer - that I use every year but can't face going through it yet - but at least I do have a list...
Youngest hasn't even been for our annual trip to see Santa at the local animal park - probably the last time we will go -has to be next weekend.
I do have excuses - Thursday before last my MIL announced she was coming to visit for 4 days last Monday - after rearranging everything and now extra bedding etc to wash only just got on top of the washing...
And then the freeview recorder died yesterday - seem to have got it working again...for now but need to think about getting a new one etc
Not feeling too panicked -yet...we have somethings for the DCs - so Santa can come - and that's the main part - no way can Santa not come!!

Our house is a tip, I still need to do cards, got some wrapping left. We're going away next week for Christmas, kids are going before us with relatives this wkend as we're working so I'll have to make sure everything's washed/packed by the end of this week. Can't be arsed with anything at the moment but hoping lots of Xmas music and a big glass of wine will get me in the mood for wrapping at least!

TheFantasticMrsFox · 15/12/2014 10:17

I cannot find my Designated List Book as my house is such a tip so am thwarted in that respect. I have however cleaned the fireplace and hearth- small acorns/ big trees and all that :o

Just got back from Tesco, only popped in for some eggs. Had a mooch round looking at all the christmas foodie things and had a bit of a panic.

Yes, I think a list is the way forward!

BiddyPop · 15/12/2014 11:07

I've lost a brooch that was a decent part of my present to DSis.

I have got the tree up, but I lost 10 days due to a promotion competition at work, (form filling part, interviews are in January , what a great time of year for all that's!). I have sent most presents to family down the country, I have to send 2 parcels to the UK today, and do another couple of gift card orders on the net. Running to shopping centre this morn while its quiet, but back at work tomorrow and will get the last few things on main shopping street near me a t lunchtimes this week.

No turkey ordered, we'll get whatever is in M&S on Christmas Eve.

I have most cards done, except the ones needing notes for friends.

And I still have a load of sewing to do for dd, and baking with her this afternoon. And find some time to just do some crafts and nice time together.

But we don't have to feed hordes on the day, and for DD"/ birthday on Boxing Day, we keep it very simple. Including buying an M&S cake.

The only thing that is a major problem is getting a climbing harness for DD. Glitches, miscommunications, and complications all along the way. So I have to go to a climbing centre late Wednesday for it now, it that is doable.

Liveinthepresent · 15/12/2014 11:27

Aha this is my boat too. Bought mountains of 'stocking fillers' ages ago and wrote loads of lists in my MN inspired Christmas Organiser .. bought cards and wrap weeks ago - even booked my food delivery slot.

But then the madness starts and life gets busier and busier - i still have about ten people to buy for and not even decided what they are all getting!
not written a single card.
can't focus on what needs doing even.
I have a single child free day tomorrow and I seriously need to just blitz the shopping.

Alice50195 · 15/12/2014 11:28

I'm in the same position. I started off so well at the start of December but I've just had so much other stuff to do that I just haven't had time to get Christmas organised. I've been trying to look online for some sort of plan that I can follow. I've found both of these which I might start using: www.shoezone.com/Blog/a-christmas-planner-for-mum and www.waitrose.com/home/christmaswithwaitrose/christmas_dinner.html. Does anyone know of any others that are good to use?

PumpkinPie2013 · 15/12/2014 12:59

So glad it's not just me! I've lost my Christmas mojo somewhere Sad

Still have 2 presents left to buy and lots of wrapping to do. Still need to finish writing cards as well.

Main tree is up but need to do the smaller one.

My house is a tip - we both teach full time and this term has been very long and tiring!

I'm lucky that we eat out Christmas eve and we are going to SIL from lunch time Christmas day. However we are having people boxing day and the 27th so need to tidy up and buy food.

I'm not well with a really bad throat which isn't helping and I've had it for weeks Sad My nan is also really ill Sad

I honestly can't be arsed at the moment Sad but my ds is one so it's his first Christmas so I will make an effort!

whatsonyourplate · 15/12/2014 13:34

Yes, me too. Had to get DH's family sorted early as we saw them last weekend which then lulled me into a false sense of security. Just had a major panic yesterday and ordered some stuff for my side of the family but still a few tricky people to buy for. Scraped the worst of the mess up in the living room so we could get the tree up at the weekend, but the rest of the house still looks like a bomb site.

nikki1978 · 15/12/2014 13:43

This is why I keep it simple. No making anything as it is too much hassle. Xmas decs are stored together in one box and all put up in one go (takes about 2 hours - DH does the outside lights and I do the tree, mantlepiece and snowflake decals on the windows. Xmas present list is written then all bought online at start of Dec. Food is all bought instore late on 23rd Dec (it isn't too busy at 10pm). Presents are wrapped 2 a day from early Dec. Done :) Yes I am a smug arse but I never understand getting so stressed over one day.

Whowillsaveyoursoul · 15/12/2014 13:57

My house is a tip - where will anything new actually go??

I have written zero cards. I haven't posted gifts either. Ds has written zero cards. This year we may in fact be sending zero cards. I can't be bothered. What's the point? I haven't even got space to display all the cards ds we've had, I'm only putting up family cards this year (note to self buy family cards).
Nothing in the way of food done either.

I have bought all gifts and wrapped two thirds of them so at least that's something. I've lost motivation now though. The cards are getting me down!

3bunnies · 15/12/2014 14:45

Spurred on by this thread I have ordered a turkey, wrapped all stocking fillers and 2/3 dc's main presents today. Have a few more presents to sort out, cards (if I can be bothered), presents for other people to buy/wrap(although can do these with dc around). Buy other food and sort out the house. Oh and do some work! !!

CalamitouslyWrong · 15/12/2014 14:58

And there I was thinking how organised I was for having sorted most of the presents. I haven't even given any thought to food shopping yet!

Bonsoir · 15/12/2014 15:00

Not looking good here! I only nailed who was coming to which meal on 24/25/26 this weekend (this is DP's fault, as it is largely his family and friends we are talking about). I have only a very vague idea of who has enough presents and nothing at all is wrapped. We went shopping yesterday for Christmas food (panettone, Christmas pudding, chocolate coins) and I received a lot of prosecco with last Saturday's internet shop. Hmmm.

WankingInAWinterWonderland · 15/12/2014 15:07

I still have all my wrapping to do and I need to get a Xmas shop in, dinner is covered by my parents this year. Still need a few boxes of chocolates too. It will all be fine. Xmas Hmm

chrome100 · 15/12/2014 15:55

I think that, if you run out of time to "make a wreath" or "decorate the banisters" the world is not going to end. Don't create too much work for yourselves!

TheFantasticMrsFox · 15/12/2014 16:27

Well DH is away tonight so I have taken the opportunity to blitz the sitting room. DS has just ambled in off the bus and gone "erm...wow" then disappeared upstairs. I'm telling myself that it will look amazing when it's finished if I don't crack open the Christmas port first Xmas Grin

OP posts:
TheWordFactory · 15/12/2014 16:38

chrome there will be no making of wreathes here Grin.

But we do need the basics - gifts, cards, food, a tree.

Bonsoir · 15/12/2014 17:18

Have just been to the supermarket and managed to locate vacuum packed chestnuts and duck fat.

Christmas prep is even more haphazard than usual...

Bonsoir · 15/12/2014 17:20

Also bought a bottle of pink Moët for DD's music teacher but only checked the price afterwards. I'm not sure she's worth €43.85!

chloejaynemummy · 15/12/2014 17:33

Iv lost my Christmas spirit we was on a roll got most dds presents tree has been up a while but because I work full time and still have 7 days left I'm getting itchy and just want to finish work perhaps then I will feel christmasy xx

Bonsoir · 15/12/2014 17:44

DD has just stuck a CD of carols on. We have inaugurated our newest Christmas decorations. And DD has put mini-fairy lights and a tree up in her dolls house Smile

TheWordFactory · 15/12/2014 17:49

I feel like I've made headway today;

Turkey, pork and ham have been ordered. Various gifts purchased (DD is wrapping them now).

DH confirmed that he has a. ordered lots of gifts for DC on line and b. bought Christmas trees on Saturday and stored them in one of the old barns c. ordered wine etc with Majestic.

I feel much calmer...
